I've been closely watching this as well....

Just yesterday there was call for showers both days....and now things begin to improve.

I am certain we can all manifest the perfect weather for opening weekend!   :)

Absolutely. If last year is any indication, the predictions are worthless, just show up and see what the weather is, then give it 10 minutes and it'll change!

PS: I'm lamenating my writs of excommunication....lol!

I was wondering if we should pack our cloaks or not.....is it not doubtful that the temperatures would drop so significantly?

PS: It's never too late to come to your senses....

We made opening weekend last year before my departure to the Outremer, and it was quite windy and cold the first day. The Princess wasn't prepared for it.

I would say bring them, better to have and not need, then to need and not have...

Weather around here is changing hourly the past few weeks.  I know oneday last week I went to lunch with it snowing but I needed short sleeves by the time I left for the day, so there's really no telling what its gonna be like. My group will definately be packing cloaks in the car just to be sure.

Keep in mind, a couple years ago, it flurried opening weekend. If your coming, might as well be prepared.

It's well-established that once GARF has arrived, if it's going to rain only one or two days out of an entire week at all... it's a 99.9% chance that it will be on the weekend.
After GARF is over...then the rain will relax it's schedule. It's infuriating.

Water proof cloak for me. Treated with a spray on DWR coating. Probably should have re sprayed it since its just been collecting dust since october but it'll work for all but the heaviest down pour.

Saturday continues to improve.   :)

I'm confident the Sunday showers will not scatter our way!  And if they do, it will be a natural opportunity to prove that I don't melt  ;)

It's tricky.

In spring, in Georgia, the only time you can have a degree of certainty about whether it will rain or not on a given day, is about 12 hrs or less before said day, and of course, by then, it's too late to make solid plans.

Ha ha ha!  ;D
Indeed. Too true.

Many's the time I opted out of fest because of impending rain, only to find that, by the time GARF is well over for the day, it would have been perfect weather for going.  >:(

Yes, but I'm loathe to drop $20 to get in the door and then not have a full, decent day for it.
To me, at least, getting a lot less sleep, getting up early, spending all that time and energy getting ready, driving the 25-30 mins. there, spending the $20, getting inside, just to have it pour rain on you, then having to walk all the way to the car in the rain, driving home and all for nothing... not my ideal kinda situation.

But then again... having a pub that sits about three people isn't an ideal situation either.  >:(

Ah, GARF... I love you.. why must you cause me such extreme frustration?!?

The pub will sit a few more than 3, but it is close quarters.  At any rate, the bad weather will keep the mundanes away and assure a playtron day! ;)  Which can be a very fun time!

The weather matters not.....my intention is for a FABULOUS time!  Everyone has the same choice!  ;) :)

Can't wait!

Prior to yesterday it rained up here in Baltimore for nearly a full week and the temp didn't make it out of the 50s. Almost anything is an improvement for me. Leaving for the airport in 2 hours. Huzzah!!

So the plan tomorrow morning is basically find the warrior monk.... and mingle till opening.... what time is everyone planning to get there?

We should be there before 10 depends on how long it takes to dress the best friend

On station in Fairburn, should be making it Faire at opening gate. Must first link up with Confrere Sean, and equip him with the appropriate trappings of a Warrior Monk, then we'll be on our way.

I won't loiter much outside the gate as Lady LeFay's ritual consists of getting in quickly to get her hair done, before the lines start, but after escorting her to the site, I can return to the gate area for pilgrim escort duty....

Well, the Lady M and I should be at the gate sometime around 9:30ish.  Will be happy to see everyone there!

So the plan tomorrow morning is basically find the warrior monk.... and mingle till opening....

Apparently this plan wasn't sufficient, because we didn't muster the entrance numbers we'd hoped for. I realize that southbound traffic also played a large role in late arrivals, but it appears to be insufficient to have a six and a half foot Warrior Monk in white to serve as a rally point.

It is my every intention to make a return trip, and hopefully put some faces with the screen names. I apparently can only find locals I'm found of: Blakduke and his Lady, Lady Dracolich and her chain mailed friend  :D , Meadman...yes I saw ya! ;D

We were rewarded with the start of a Renship between Lady LeFay and Sister Hatchet and her Lord Scott. (They weren't afraid)

So if you're calling out for a rally point around Memorial Day weekend, don't be scared, come up and introduce yourself and company, and let's have a blast....Deus vult!

I will probably be back on either the 9th or 10th, but I'm gonna be at TnRF for Memorial Day weekend. My problem this past weekend was having to many slow risers saturday and sunday morning. I'm used to getting up at 6am all week so getting up was no problem but half of my group were sleepy college students that needed more motivation.  If any one else is gonna be there the 9th or 10th let me know I'd like to meet more people from R/F. If nothing else you will probably find me at the Crimson Chain Booth.
