Maybe it's normal, maybe it's not, but my post count isn't updating. Any thoughts?

Not all threads will update your counters. I know that the faire-related threads do, but I don't think the Backstage threads do ...

That is correct! Mundane topics doesn't count for sure, and I believe John's Inn doesn't either.

The Introductions section doesn't add to post counts either.
