The 2nd annual Santa Fe Renaissance Festival is this weekend (September 19th and 20th) at the Rancho De Las Golondrinas in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Quite a few people from the Colorado crowd are making it down there this year, myself included. We're in for a blast this year.

Feel free to ask any questions about the faire!
Looks like fun! Wish we could be there this weekend...a road trip is in order one of these years...nice photo of you and Esteban, by the way... 8)
Another distant cousin of Spleen's. ;)
The 3rd Annual Santa Fe Renaissance Fair is September 18th and 19th, 2010.
Info here: http://www.sfrenfair.org/
Same location/time as always. Same crew too!
The Baroness and I will be there! No bells, just very, very happy faces.
I will have more than enough bells to suit all of us....
I look forward to meeting new friends!
Huzzah!
By the by, it appears that this year the faire has a special deal with one of the local hotels. Mention the faire when you make your reservation and get a special rate for the weekend. ($89, really a good deal!) And it appears that there is also free breakfast and something about a "manager's welcome" involving a free drink. It's the Santa Fe Inn which is right off the highway and probably only about 5 minutes from the faire site.

So, is the gang moving from the Best Western to the Santa Fe inn?
I know mine likely will!
What is your favorite things about Santa Fe Ren. Faire?

I second this. The faire is small, but it has so much heart! It is sincerely the highlight of my year. The sense of wonderment on the faces of those who have never seen anything like what the faire offers is truly magical. I met a tiny girl last year in the fairy garden who gifted me (the fairy!) with some stones and pebbles she'd collected, because I had given her a fairy gift earlier that day. It's been to date one of the most incredible moments of my life. I still have the little stones she gave me, and I'm working on incorporating it somehow into Fritzie's garb this season.
I was hoping to make it to this faire this year but something came up and i will be in san diego that weekend :(
So have tons of fun and a few drinks on me. ;D

Done and done!
Since this is my first time in the area, what are things that I need to see, or go and do!
If you get the chance, try to get to the Plaza where the Governor's house is...if I'm not mistaken it's the oldest section of Santa Fe, and includes a beautiful cathedral that was built in the 1600's. Inside, there's a spiral staircase that was built by an anonymous carpenter who simply showed up one day, stayed to build this beautiful staircase for the nuns, and then disappeared. It's in pristine condition and it's absolutely gorgeous, and it's built in this special way - I can't remember the name of the technique, I want to say lock-and-key or something like that, there are no nails or other hardware, it's just the wood. Also, there is a fantastic restaurant there in the Plaza called The Ore House...their house salsa is some of the best I've ever had! We have dinner there one night every year we go to Santa Fe.
So far, the weather for this weekend looks perfect: 78 and sunny both days, according to weather.com. Will keep checking as we grow closer, but it doesn't look like we could ask for better weather!!

Speak for yourself, fairy! Those of us in noble garb would prefer a few degrees cooler.
78, sounds heavenly to me. I am used to being in noble garb in the 90's and up!!! I need to make sure I pack a quilted petticoat, it might be chilly. ;)

Well, you have to admit, that's cooler than it was for most of the year at CORF, first weekend notwithstanding!
Points conceded to both Zoe and Syrilla.
Having said that, the Baroness and I agree that ANY weather is good weather for a renaissance festival.
Blushing won't be at the faire ... but Sister Rose wil be in attendance ...

The Baroness and I look very much forward to meeting the goode sister. And Syrilla as well.
I will be flying out tomorrow.
Huzzah! I'll be rolling into town sometime in the late afternoon on Friday.
We are here as of Wednesday evening.
Visited the Faire site, and things are shaping up quite well. Toured the faire site and beyond.
We went to the Plaza, with a notable Royal, and had a late lunch at the Paris Cafe and Bakery, down in Burro Alley.
Great food! Will have to look into the Ore House.
Toured the plaza monument, the beautiful St Francis Cathedral, but missed the Loretto Chapel by 5 minutes.
Then I was persuaded to visit the Kakawa Chocolate House. Dark Chocolate Caramel center w/Sea Salt on top was fabulous.
Later in the evening an impromtu sword fight ala Monty Python, took place in the isles of Hobby Lobby - film at five in the future.... ;)
Looking forward to this weekend!
PS And we have a Meet N Greet set up for 7:30 tonight (Friday) at the Blue Corn Cafe and Brewery.
Sitting at the airport getting ready to say goodbye to New Mexico. Thank you for a wonderful time!!!!
It was a pleasure meeting you! My parents and I are looking forward to possibly visiting one of your faires in the future - so cross your fingers for us!

Thank you to a great volunteer cast that rivals and exceeds many of the big for-profit-faires!
The front gate loosely improvisational improv worked better than could be expected.
And we have a twist for Sundays pre opening gate show.
And the weather was just perfect...... attendance to come by faires end.......
A hearty Huzzah (Yippee!) to El Rancho De Las Golondrinas for allowing many of us to participate as Volunteers in the years event: The Santa Fe Renaissance Faire 2013.
A Big THANK YOU to: The SCA Village,. The Fairy Village, and the Colorado Volunteers including Volunteers from Alabama, Arizona, and Oregon on the Royal Court and Street Cast.
Total attendance for the two days was a record breaking 8450!
Our loosely suggested primarily improv-ed front gate show on Sunday, was such a hit with the Las Golorndrinas director, that we have been asked to perform it in an on stage show at next years 2014 ren faire.
Here is a link to some pictures and unfortunately a sideways view video of the Sunday gate show - not the best video, but yet here it is.
