Title: Fabric ideas to match a doublet?
Post by: theChuck on February 02, 2016, 07:15:45 PM
Hey all. Lady Kathleen is going to make my wife a bodice that actually fits her well. We're looking around for fabrics that would complement my doublet - without being the exact same material - but we're coming up short. So I thought I'd ask the hive mind here if anyone has any ideas.

This is my doublet's fabric:

In reality it looks a bit lighter than that, but you get the idea. My wife's skirts are a slightly dark blue (probably the lighter of the two diamonds in the picture), if that helps.

So.. any ideas? Thanks!

Why not match the light gold in the fabric or the burgundy?  I know some camel colored velveteen was on sale at Denver fabrics just last week that might match.

Hmm, maybe. My wife was really looking for something in blue, but I'll run that by her.

She can always add blue trim to the bodice later.

The mystery has been solved since this post went up. Bodice mockup was sent out on Friday.
