Does anyone know were I can get a set of archery gloves. What I am looking for is a matching set of gloves, the left glove designed for protection when shooting off the thumb kunckle, and the right glove being a standard damascus glove. I would prefer the left hand to be fingerless.
I know the simple solution is to wear a reular set of full finger glvoes but it is hot in the south and so i would rather not resort to full finger gloves. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I am going to guess that such things are not normally made/sold . . . but, you could probably contact any of the numerous leather workers and see if the can make the minor modification.
I am not an expert in period archery, so, I have to ask, how does your "thumb knuckle" enter into it?
The thumb knuckle comes into play when your bow doesn't have an arrow shelf. When you do not have a shelf it is common practice to shoot off your knuckle. This form of shooting often results in some nast fletching cuts on your knuckle if it isn't protected.
Hopefully that answered your question. If I don't find a source soon my next step will be to have a set costum made. Thanks for the help.

I have been looking for the same with no success. This season I am ordering a pair of cheapy fingerless leather gloves and only use the left hand. If I find a south paw archers I'll gift them the right glove. If you go custom and find a maker that won't break the bank please pass it along.

The only bow hand glove I have found was on 3 rivers archery, and it didn't look very period correct at all. I am starting to think I will have to get a costume made set. I'll let you know what I can find.

They sound to be somewhat period correct. I do see a bowglove listed, though no picture. Could be worth an email.
Kee's Archery has a archer glove its a combination bracer and glove that goes over your trigger finger and thumb they also have matching shooting gloves. Their's look period and will keep your puffy sleeve's out of harms way while shooting. They have off the shelf or they will custom make one to fit you and what type buttons you wish. They have a shop a Scarborough on Taylor lane.
Wow Kee's Traditional Archery seems to be the place to go. I just sent them an e-mail so hopefully I will hear from them later today. Hopefully I can get a full matching rig from them, quiver, gloves, bow sock, and arm guard.
Kee's are a favorite of mine I have their archer glove, a couple of bow sleeves, a quiver and a few dozen of their arrows. They are not only great ventors but big supporters of our archery tournament at Scarby.
If you are a Tudor era Longbowman in search of authenticity it would be tough to find better equipment than this gentleman offers, he makes a lot of stuff to be as close to what was found on the Mary Rose.

Sadly I still have not gotten a response from them, but i will be patient.
