Title: Castleteers 19, alive and kicking.
Post by: Paul Blackpowder on October 22, 2015, 11:05:58 AM
This is to announce that our Spring Castleteers Day is set for April 16, corresponding with our first Castle Day. The Castle schedule is quite busy, and this is the closest day I could get to the end of April. I expect the usual potluck supper, possibly a talent show, and the sleepover. An important thing to know/ remember is that if you come early, the fee for Castle Day is 6 dollars/ adult. Last year we had record crowds for Castle Days, so parking could be interesting. And there will be a delay in the usual run for the sleeping spaces. There will be civilians and vendors to clear out of the way first. If you desire to help in breakdown, that will be appreciated. So would firewood. Please remember the Ash borer restrictions on moving firewood across certain areas. As usual, tis a garbed event. And the site is dry until we have cleared the castle of those not participating in Castleteers. Feel free to contact me through here, or via my Facebook account.

After all the questions I was getting at Ren Faire, I figured I should post as soon as I had a date.

I may *try* to come up for this. It's more than a long haul nowadays since I'm in South Texas.

I will put it on the calendar when we get one for next year.  I would expect some chicken from me as that is what I usually pick up at Myers to bring.  Put me down for two but one never knows with this much notice.

Jay - Many people bring a sleeping bag and/or air mattress and crash in the castle. I've always taken the seat's out of my van and slept in the back. There is power access at the end of the parking lot so, you could run extension cords to a heated blanket if it's really cold. As for a tent, I think some people may have done that although I have never seen it.

StareNorthSteve, Thank you for the information.  Sorry to see that as of now you will not be attending.  It seems like it will be great fun.

Is there anything else that should be brought with?

Thanks,

Jay Byrd

For those that are new, this is a garbed event. And for those staying the night, bring bedding, ie mattress and blankets/ sleeping bags. Also something for the potluck dinner on Saturday. April can be chilly, watch the weather forecast.

I was just brushing up on the laws of transporting wood, and from NJ to Ohio is a no-no.  I did find a place to buy wood locally.

One question;

How will the heating of food happen?  It will depend on what I prepare the food in.  If it needs to be heated on the fire cast iron, if in a microwave ceramic?

Sin and I are planning to finally come back. Fingers crossed! Since we're a few hours away, I'm not sure yet what we'll be able to bring, but I will most likely bake something. :D

fair warning, if she dresses like that parts will freeze off.  the extended forecast so far is for cool and wet...typical castleteer weather.

the local news just predicted....now this is way ahead, but this is their guess.....saturday castlteers looks like mid to high 70's with an over night low of nearly 60.....insane for castleteers :)

The Gypsy and Sire will be there (baby bump and all  ;D) for castle day and the evening. I'll bring my Cards Against Humanity deck and one of my dishes for the potluck. Anyone have any special requests for the chef?

For everyone who might be coming to Castle day during the day (11-5) Admission price is now $8 a person ($2 more than Paul had previously posted) and There is NO parking at the castle, this includes the street below the castle. Parking is at the Meijer on Fields Ertl and they will be shuttling people back and forth throughout the day.

Just a friendly fyi :-)

I will be attending this year for the FIRST TIME! lol I was kindly invited this year. It will be my first and I am excited to join many of my friends at this highly spoken of gathering. I have a rough idea of what to expect, but if someone wants to make sure I do not get lost in rituals i don't know ( rush for sleeping space thing?) I would appreciate it. Also I am gonna try to get the stuff to make... something. No clue what. A "main' ish dish I expect. Any suggestions? I haven't encountered much I can't make yet if I try. I look forward to this first of what I hope is a new tradition for me. :)
