Title: Discussion of Trip to a Dragon's Cave.
Post by: CountessofPhoenix on May 11, 2008, 02:06:42 PM
Don't have Vandor's last post, but I just happened to have saved mine. Gives us someplace to start from. Hope you don't mind. I just miss having this creative site available.

Word has just come down that they will not be able to recover our tale. If anyone has any of it they want to add before we go on, now would be the time.

I didn't get a chance to catch up on where things went after Vandor picked up the swords and the visit to Bacardi.  Could those of you who were most active provide a quick summary of what happened and where things were going?  I sort of got left behind in the desert, but I'd say that as a Ranger, I've just been lurking about and prepping for the next leg of the journey.

Real life has been quite busy and nerve-wracking as we're in the midst of trying to buy a short-sale house and the deal keeps being pushed back.  My head hasn't really been in this, but I'm not ready to completely write myself out either.

Hmmm... If I could only remember what I posted.....

Okay, so the party has begun their journey toward Vandor's village and the Dragon's Cave.  They have been given another quest to hunt down and destroy the Gorgon.  Doing so will free Countess' beloved Bear, and Vandor's beloved Amalphia from the curse of the Gorgon.  The swords Vandor made are being left with the party while he flies ahead to ensure his village is prepared for thier arrival.  That's about all I can remember off the top of my head.  I wish I had finished copying all the posts from the old site... I wonder if there's any way to get them retrieved????

According to what I read yesterday they are not retrievable. I think from here on out we need to save a copy of our story as we go along.

Thanks for the summation, I needed to get caught up myself.I wouldn't worry overly about fine details, the story was meant to be fun, being that it has been lost up to this point if someone was to make a mistake on a detail surely the others would be understanding about the fact that there is nothing to go back to read to get refreshed on. The story may be gone but not the fine people who enjoy writting it, so long as we have that we may regain a full measure of the enjoyment we had known.Let us look forward to what will will create rather dwelling on what has passed.   ;D

Just gettin used to all this new forum, let me know if the last post was okay, or do I need to edit it. Basically it was a test to see if it'd even post. But, I tried to stay in the story context aong with adding my character's views and maybe some other directions to go in the story. A rebellion/revolution, another treasure hunt, maybe more battles with some creatures this time. Were-creatures,vampires,etc.?  Just thinking where to go with the story after we've retrieved the clutch of eggs taken it back to the first dragon and received the scrolls of knowledge and treasures/weapons/magical items from the first dragon.

Well, once we retrieve the dragons' eggs.. there is the situation dealing with the Gorgon, and I'm sure someone will think up another adventure to add yet again... We are a creative bunch here, and we can do anything we want, this is OUR story after all.

Indeed, it is my hope that the story goes on for as long as we have a ren-site. It can be anything we want it to be.I would like to see us get to the eggs sooner rather then later. It is my hope that when we do get them back,to be able to step out of the story for a time.My personal life is getting fairly busy at the moment and I need to be focusing on it.

Thank you, I appreciate it greatly.Spring is always a busy time for me in the mundane world. The pace at work picks up, working 6-7 days a week. and I am rushed to accomplish as many yard projects as I can before the dog days of summer set in, in earnest.Presently I am working on a building a barn and a back deck porch as well as trying to keep up with mowing two acres. On top of all that I am working on legal wrangling in order to avoid a law suit over some land I have bought recently.

I understand. The orange grove has to be weeded before the vines start choking the trees. My herbs are not doing wel as we are in a slight drought and no matter how many times I have watered them they still aren't doing well. We have Hurricane Conferences the next 2 Sat. and a family reunion the 8th. Plus I'm trying to gather all the things I need for nursing school and with gas the price it is I'm not sure where the extra money is coming from. We had planned to go to the Colorado Rennaisance Fair but looks like that will be a victim of the gas situation too. Hope that fall finds you in less of a demand for your time!

And since this is a fantasy shouldn't all of our wishes be fulfilled here. I request that someone give us a roll call of who is present at the moment. Since we lost the old posts and I haven't been part of the story that long it would help me to know for sure, who our group consists of.
If I get anything wrong here please forgive my ignorance and fix it.

PurpleDragon,
I know that you came along somewhat later in the story and there is nothing left of what had been written in the old forum. But I thought that I might raise the point that everybody in the party with the possible exception of the Countess has met two dragons during the course of the story. The first was Arthorious a blue dragon which campained a while with the group as friend and minion of Ice Mage. The second dragon was Theodorious an ancient gold dragon who sent the party off on the quest to find the last clutch of eggs which he and his mate had once guarded ages ago.The party originally went there to kill him, until they heard his story and took pity on him in his decrepit state. It was the trip to his lair that the story was named for.

True, however my comment within the story was more based on a combative situation, i.e. actually fighting a dragon.  ;)  (I had read the entire story from beginning until I entered the storyline just so I would know where everyone was coming from).

Seems we've slowed down the posts on this story for a while. Faire season is truly upon us. So I understand, I'm waiting for someone else to begin the story again. Or it seems we've come to a writer's block and we're all wondering in what direction to take the story. At any rate let me know what's going on. Maybe even a break from the story is good until we really get the creative juices flowing again or the imagination/creativity muses visit us again.

Indeed an excellant question,I had thought that it would require a good bit of magic, some teleporting and a shrink spell perhaps the use of an infinity bag. I was hoping to inspire our good Queen Bonnie into a most impressive display of her skills solving this one, sort of a grand finale of magic if you will. ;D

I need to know our group goal here. Are we transporting the eggs back to Vandor's kingdom, or are we watching them hatch and moving the hatchlings? Need some input to know what next with the eggs. Could be amusing our bunch trying to take 7 baby dragons anywhere!
Title: Re: Discussion of Trip to a Dragon's Cave.

AND Having perused my copy of the original storyline,"What type and color dragons are they "/ Are they from the same clutch or are they "Volunteers" from seven different clutches? Could be interesting as Tess says!!
Title: Re: Discussion of Trip to a Dragon's Cave.
Post by: Alphonse on August 07, 2008, 01:09:34 AM
Well I unfortunately do not have a copy of the original that we lost when we moved here, just memories  ;D But it seemed to me we had agreed that they were eggs from differant colored dragons assembled in this clutch as a contingency due to the raging dragon wars.Seemed that we also agreed that each of the questers were to be given an young hatchling to raise and bond with. The details of that hadn't been worked out though and are open to be decided how ever the group wishes. The finale I mentioned was concerning my part in the story, once the dragon eggs are handled to everyone's satisfaction, I know of a certain library that will need a archivist and chief librarian.
Title: Re: Discussion of Trip to a Dragon's Cave.
Post by: Poldugarian Warrior on August 07, 2008, 10:35:11 AM
Let's make all the eggs be of a different dragon species so that when hatched and given to anyone or let free we can see all sorts of different dragons with different features and powers. Well, they are eggs, and we'd have to find some way to heat them to the point of hatching while they had fully developed inside the egg without their mother. Then transport baby dragons which could be very humorous I can just see it now, and the dialogues would be funny, or we just transport the eggs back to Theodorious, and let him have them and raise them. It would be funny though if we transported baby dragons and if we got in trouble their fighting instincts would come out and they'd want to spar with us, or even join us in fighting attackers. I just have these cute and funny images in my head of green dragons hopping and flying around breathing fire and just basically having a good time playing around us. They even act like children being able to talk, and use their hands to grab evrythin and anythin. But, this is only one way it could go. I want to know where others want to go before posting anything.

I think it's time to shake things up. With all of us so busy maybe some individual stories would work well to move the overall story along. Hence my plan is to separate the group and each individual can have adventures as they try to reunite.

Of course she is a female dragon, I suppose Bobby Sue then? I had discussed the name Bob with Tremayne, she said it seems to be a fairly common name here abouts. I had considered Emerald as she is green and a gem but thought that it might sound too much like Esmeralda...

Emeralda it is then, I stand corrected. I have decided after consulting a local wood witch, to name the green hatchling Muscadine or Cadi for short. The fruit after the outer hull is discarded is about the same color green as she is.

Thanks for the kick start purple dragon, I wasn't really sure how to start off after the scouting, I figured maybe I'd join up with all you again, but this is better since evryone needs to write their own bit, the only things connecting us now are the dragons and prophesies, and the battle against the undead as usual. But, now we're in different locales.

I am laboring away on my barn, trying to get as much done as is possible before the heat of summer descend upon me. (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d191/alpha64/Barncellar.jpg)

Cool, evry one has been fairing well then. I too have gotten into this regimine of just going to work, watching T.V. and going to bed. Not much reading, writing, or any other hobbies. Cold weather at work and the monotony of the work has just caught up to me. But, spring is a comin. That barn will be quite nice once you get it up. Looks to be just the right size for a planters/gardener's shed. I'd like to build one to do my brewing in, but of course zoning laws and such here in the city. But, good luck.
Title: Re: Discussion of Trip to a Dragon's Cave.
Post by: Alphonse on February 28, 2009, 02:51:42 PM
Thanks, it's been allot of hard work and I still have allot more ahead of me. This is just one side of the barn, when it's done it will be 24 ft X 28ft with three separate levels. I have all kinds of ideas and plans for what I would like to do with it.Initially I see it being used to house a band saw type saw mill to aid me in my war against the pine trees. As that winds down and the resulting cleared land turns to pasture, then it will be used for horses and to support my garden. The pics show my root cellar/storm shelter, not being a big fan of tubers, I will likely engage in some experimental wine making, possible even trying my hand at mead, brewing has occurred to me as well.I am also considering tinkering with some P.V. cells and seeing if I can powers some of the lights with solar.I am likewise interested in a kiln and possibly some hobby black smithing too. Being a wizard's barn, you can bet on the fact that there will always be something relatively novel going on there.

Yep, I understand that sort of dilemma, I have spent most of my life dealing with one kind of problem or another, like that which has kept me from realizing most of my dreams. In fact building a barn has been a life long dream, this barn, where it is going up and how, is something I have been dreaming for close to ten years, it seems almost dream like that it is actually starting to come together.

Of course my finances are not what I wish them to be, but they are improved enough that they allow me to do this. Most of my materials are recycled or used but I have managed to spend two or three thousand dollars, a couple of hundred a month at a time as I can afford it.I will likely be at that sort of thing for at least the rest of this year if not longer, seeing it to completion.

Someone who didn't know me well, might confuse my excitement at seeing it getting done, as a love of building or hard work. That is not the case though, I am happy about the fact that when it is done, then I will have a place to actually tinker and that sort of fun can begin.

That is great though. To finally see a dream materializing. And it won't take long, because it seems that you're keeping on task and within your means. Good Luck and take care.

Good Luck on them finals Countess, if that's what they call them or exams. That's cool though, you'll be much more capable of landing a good job with that.

Dave, your last post cries out for at least a recon in force by warg riders if not a full blown invasion by the minions of darkness. Falling asleep too many nights in front of a fire will make you soft and weak... ;D

You know what? That's exactly what I've been doing lately in the real world. Except it hasn't been a fire, but the T.V. or computer. Just tired from work. Yet the weather's getting better and I can't wait to go fishing and hiking, then the post should be better. And for this warrior a break is needed. The leadership of a small vilage may be the answer, but I was thinking about heading back toward the town near your hut in the story and getting supplies and letting you know of the village I've raised and about the warrior we possible have in our midst. Let me know if this is a direction to take the story in.

I have been looking to move the part of the story that I have been writing about Alphonse and the dragons in his care towards a point where he begins to explore the library that Theodorius has built up in his cave. Not very adventurious or action oriented. What I was think of was the possibility of me writting with you on you effort to run your town, perhaps I might write the part of an orc raiding party that you defeat as it tries your town defences?

Thats sounds good. maybe while your in that library with Theodorius, you find a book that will revolutionize leadership standards and practices that help me make the village stronger, and you find out more about the prophesies of the warriors and as time goes you do write in that orc attack and I'll decide from there if it's a winning battle or losing. Dependign on how we wish to draw the story out. As for now I'll probably visit your town with Rondell, and gather supplies and maybe get into some trouble then make a hasty retreat.

Sad to end it- but guess it is time.
My inspiration fairy has not visited me for a while to stimulate any writing plot thoughts! Alas!

Well, that's about how I feel too. There's only so many thoughts we can get down, and this story would be a huge chronicle if we kept going. I look for the last of the updates/endings and write mine when evryone else has put their's in.

Sad as it is to say, an ending to tie things up would be a good idea. My muses have not visited me in quite some time and I just cannot seem to coax them out of hiding.
