Title: ST MOLDEN'S WEEKEND CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Post by: Welsh Wench on March 01, 2010, 03:05:19 PM
After this weekend, I seem to have been unofficially elected the RF person to post what is going on and when.
So, Kate...Count....Seamus....you have it!

Saturday

Tailgate to start at 9 AM. You will either see us or smell Kate's wonderful sausage gravy and biscuits.
Listen Look for Lairde.

MCrack plans are being left to our Cruise Director Lady Phoenix.

Sunday

Tailgate at 9 AM. Groundhog Day once again!

Queen's Tea

Group picture to follow right afterwards. Bring your best smile!

Musical Men will be arranged with Madge prior to the weekend as regards place and time.
I talked to Madge on Queen's Tea. The tent holds 80 people. I think we are expecting our group to be 40.

PLEASE GET YOUR TICKET AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE AT FAIRE!
I don't think anyone wants to be responsible for 'reserving' 40 tickets. Perhaps we will be able to secure a section so all RF members can sit together but that most likely will be the extent of our arrangements.

Apres faire hour activities will be arranged according to whatever you decide to do. Just remember the Youtube mantra.  ;)

OK you three---happy now?  :D

Any mispellings are due to sitting in a meeting all day.

Regarding tailgate plans--

Since BARF is the home faire, the BARF crew will be hosting.
I need BARF people to tell me what you plan on bringing.
And I need a headcount from everyone so we don't have an over-or-under abundance of food.

So...out of towners and BARF people, please RSVP here.
And BARF-ers please let us know what you are bringing so we don't have an overload of donuts!

You know I'll be there!  Unless you leave me behind, that is...  ;D

Actually, that's a yes to the tailgates & etc, no to the meet & greet.

I shall be bringing 4 tons of homemade, from scratch (my Granny's recipe) of sausage gravy and biscuits.

Maybe not 4 tons, but a lot.  Possibly two crock pot's worth and lots o' biscuits!

Let me know what else you need me to do!

Ifin I may make a request fer the pub for the Cheiftan's toast...at the Pirate's Pub or the Queen's Pub.

They be closest to our booth and I can get there the quickest!

willin and I will be there, but as it's a working weekend for us, we'll be at the booth before the tailgate even starts (and most likely early to bed Friday)...Still, looking forward to seeing everyone again and trying to catch some music...I understand that we're near where Jim Hancock is onstage, whichever stage that is (so he'll be easy for me to listen to, also hear that Cantiga, a personal favorite is there again this year).  Stop by the pavilion and say hello!

My wife and I are planning at this point to be at the Friday night meet-n-greet, and the Saturday and Sunday tailgates, and hopefully a great many of the other events.

Since we'll be staying overnight closer to BARF, we weren't planning on bringing anything to the tailgates, but just PM me if you need more food and we'll be glad to pick something up. Just won't be home-made.

We'll be there Saturday & Sunday morning for tailgate. Like Iain, we're coming in from out of town and will have trouble with fresh made stuff. We thought that we could supply the makings for the mimosas. Any idea how much OJ is needed? Is there a favored brand of champagne or did someone already buy enough for the weekend?

Hector mentioned buying a case, but I don't think anyone has claimed OJ.  A coupla gallons?

Molden & I are usually pretty good about making that first tailgate... after that it's a roll o' the dice.   A sorority sister of mine who lives in the Tampa Area may be joining us!  I hope, I hope, I hope!  Been nearly 20 years since I've seen her!  In our college days we went to Rambo meets Madonna exchanges with a fraternity, kind of a pick-up where we left off, Renaissance Style!

(I'm planning to be at the Handfasting.)

Just a heads up for Sunday's tailgate .... Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday at 12:01 am. That means we have to get up an hour earlier just to be on time.

A quick note to all who are visiting and may not be aware. This time of year Flordia can be a tinderbox. Hopefully we'll get a little rain before your arrival and not only will it keep our BARF dust down but fire danger will be lower. As it stands right now we are in red alert.

http://www.accuweather.com/us/fl/tampa/33601/watches-warnings.asp#

For those who smoke, please be more careful than usual about where you dispose of your cigarettes. I'm guessing most of you remember the fire last season in the back fourty. Pillage all you like, but please don't burn.  :)

Donuts?  :) Seriously...it sounds like a nice spread so far. Making me hungry!

Only a slim chance I'll make it to the tailgates or any of the gatherings. 1) Because I think I've made maybe two canons in the last four years I've been attending faire...and 2) work and other stuff is keeping me busy on the weekends this season. So I'll not pipe up, but if I do manage to make one, I'll bring something sweet.

In 6 nights from tonight, I will be sitting with our good friends enjoying a certain Wench's cooking, and my husband's offer to help if she will let him in the kitchen!

I need - yes, need - not want - the warm Florida sunshine and balmy nights.  Floridians, please make it happen.

Although there's no waves on the Gulf Coast, Surf M'Crack plans to go to the beach just to get sand between her toes again for the first time in 3 very long years.

And the faire is the icing on the cake!     ;D

Although there's no waves on the Gulf Coast, Surf M'Crack plans to go to the beach just to get sand between her toes again for the first time in 3 very long years.

And the faire is the icing on the cake!     ;D

I hear ya Renee! I hope it warms up, because I got myself a new swimsuit and I want to put it to good use! I can't wait to sip mudslides on the beach!

Slumming around on the beach, then going to faire...I could get used to that!  8)

WW, it wasn't an attack. Not against you or your Quiche. It was a jest, a joke, a play upon Jacks comment. No need to get all dramatic about it and act deeply wounded. This is just so silly.  ::)

Agreed.  The painfully unfunny twisting of my words into a clumsy barb was indeed silly.  ::) ::) ::)

"Agreed.  The painfully unfunny twisting of my words into a clumsy barb was indeed silly."

No Jack. You are confused...again. You look for meaness where none is intended and fan the sparks from misunderstandings (caused by my admittedly clumsy attemps to join in the conversation) into flames fueled by your hatred. Painfully unfunny indeed!

I'm tired of this. RF is supposed to be a community of like minded folks with a love for faire. We are suposed to be a group who welcomes everyone into the circle. No closed doors. All are welcome. Instead we have a group that uses this forum merely to promote your own agendas and to shut out those who don't dance to your own unpleasant tune.

We went through this kind of drama two years ago when a few members were banned. It was deserved guys and it was, yes, a hard decision to come to. I knew it would cause flack amongst you, but I was recieving threatening phonecalls, and hateful mail and I couldn't get through to those who were causing the drama. Crazy accusations that I was trying to ban the whole group and had agendas out against you all. Seriously? I sent out notes to many of you trying to clear the air and open the lines of communication. I got back games, or rediculous bargains, like "there will be peace if you get another (disliked) moderator banned". Seriously? I don't roll like that. That is not how "honorable" people come to an agreement.

I wanted this forum to be a place for faire. Not the private agendas and private parties that had taken over this forum.  We had many complaints from those parties and concerns about what might be occuring there and some of those that post here today were complaining that they no longer wanted to be a part of this forum area because of those asssociations. That is why I took the job of straightening out this area, so it would be about *faire*.I felt I owed this forum something. RF came into my life at a time when I really really needed an escape from my mundane world. I wanted this to be a happy place to come, not what it was turning into.

Many of you chose to leave this forum in defense of your friends back then and some of you eventually found first hand what I had seen.  I see that same sort of attitude here again. I am trying to make this a place where *everyone* feels welcome, myself included, but some of you are doing everything you can to stop that. I think it's great to see the forum being used to plan a gathering, but not if it means endless inside jokes, some rather unkind, talking over other members heads and threads being started and then abandoned by the originator because of some ill percieved slight. Either be a part of this forum, and add to it in a positive way or please do not contirbute at all.  I'll happily go back to just updating the BARF contacts page in the hopes that this forum will draw new people in that will truely have a love for faire and and this forum. I do hope that some of you will stay.

Jack, I don't think it's me you are after in particular. I have seen you come after several people here in our forums who you don't want in your circle.I think you play at being above it all, but yes you are very invested, emotionally or no. In my opinion that is hateful.

Thanks for making it clear you are all more interested in your own self promotion rather than in promoting a community.

Myself and Pin'n will be there, we are coming from Raleigh, NC, with approximately 9 other people from the Raleigh area, we are certainly looking forward to having a good time with fellow rennies and and family to see how Tampa excepts the Faire. We are not coming to be in the middle of this war that Anna Iram and others seem to have between themselves, I think this is childish, and needs to be taken elsewhere.

I am certain you're on top of it...
never had a doubt
but this is our FIRST opportunity to host a Family Gathering and I doubt an extra set of eyes going over everything and making sure we're all on that same AWESOME and LEGENDARY page will hurt.

I have received word that Flagship Pub has confirmed for the Chieftain's Toast on Saturday at 3
Do we have a solid plan for Saturday night's gathering?

Also... as it's also St. Molden's... and not just a M'Crack Family Gathering... everyone please remember to be there for the R/F pictures.
As TJ said... EVERYONE is always welcome.  Don't want there to be any confusion about that.

There's also a Sandlar booth if you're more in the mood for boots.

I don't think you need to worry about a thing. Your leadership skills were obviously showing when you put together your team to make all of the arrangements for our little gathering. I am amazed at their organization, and I would to express my personal thanks to Lady Phoenix, Welch Wench, Seamus and Squire Mickey (Please note the use of R/F names.) for all of their efforts. I know how much they have put into this, and I want to make sure that they understand how much we appreciate it. I think, without question, The Clan O'Conchobhair is about to pull off the social event of the season!

Thank you all, and I can't wait to see you Friday!

I will have the discounted tickets for BARF at the Gathering at the Tilted Kilt on Friday night and at the Tailgate on Saturday.

I WILL NOT be at the tailgate on Sunday. If you are not going to be able to get your tickets before Sunday morning, you will need to make special arrangements with me.

Currently I have 50 tickets. They are 1st come 1st serve. I believe that we shall have plenty judging by the responses I have gotten so far.

Thanks and we now return you to your regularly scheduled excitement build up.

My skiff has been prepped, my garb is packed, and I've got a bottle of green apple Baa-Baa to bring down.

Quiet One will stop at Lady Mikayla's tomorrow night for a nice dinner (I'm cooking roast beef!) on the way down from Ohio. We'll all catch some major zzzzz's and then caravan down to Tampa from Charlotte early Friday morning. We should be there in plenty of time to check in to our rooms and then make our way to the meet n' greet that night.

Gimli arrived in Raleigh last night, and I just got off work and planning to get some sleep today, Julia gets off a 4 this afternoon, Bree is off and Jackie will arrive with Gimli some time this evening.   Plan to pack the car today and head off sometime after dark will a full car.   Should be there in plenty of time to enjoy the afternoon weather in Florida and then on to the Meet and Greet.

Weekend weather report:
Saturday's high will be 69 with a low of 56.Partly cloudy in the morning, but clearing up mid-day.  Breezes of about 15 mph.  UV is going to be an 8 (considered very high) so make sure to wear some sunscreen!  It may look cloudy, but you can still get burnt!

Sunday's high will be 68 with a low of 55.  Beautiful sunny skies should be shining down upon us all day!  Breezes around 12 mph.  UV is a 9 so keep the sunscreen handy again!

Both days have humidity around 70% (which, for us Floridians, is nothing).

Remember to stay hydrated (beer doesn't count!  Get some water in there every so often) and HAVE FUN!

Can't wait to see you all!  Safe travels!

And that is why Athena and I hit the beach yesterday!
It pays to drive an old Bug--Caddy's was crowded but they managed to 'squeeze me in'!

I meant to post this last night--

Lady Nicolette and Willin Sole have both arrived safely.
Lady Renee Buchanan and her husband Steve called me from the Orlando airport.
They were headed to Tampa last night.

:D

Yeah, I can put up with this weather as long as the weatherman delivers what he promised.

I'm right there with you, Lady D. I realized around 11am that I didn't have any sunscreen with me. I spent most of the day trying to stay in the shade. Still got pink but was able to save it; it'll be a good base for my bodice tan.

I'm pretty sure I got just as wet walking to my car after work today as I would have going swimming. And getting back to my apt, there was a lifeguard walking in without an umbrella looking like he just dove in the pool. It was ridiculous today! Which also meant I didn't do my laundry. Good thing I don't need any of it for BARF!

Looks like I won't get out to the Friday night meet-n-greet after all. Late Thursday, I got hit with 12 radio script rewrites and two new scripts ideas to write (thankfully, these are 1-minute scripts, but those can be tough to write), and promotional copy for a book cover to write. And I hope I construct all that better than I built that last sentence.

This is the longest day of work EVER! :-\

There is no way I can get my other half up for tailgate tomorrow if we go out tonight. So we will just have to meet everyone on Saturday. And I was sure I was going to the parade tomorrow night, but I have to admit I am terribly curious about the Tattoo party and bonfire. Can someone please elaborate on this?

Large fire (and I mean LARGE), carousing, perhaps libation of some sort, and Michael doing tattoos on those who are interested...

I'll be there tomorrow, but I don't know all how much rendevouzing I'll be doing. I'm going with a friend from work, who has only ever been to Sterling before. That said she does garb, and I believe considers herself a Rennie. But she hasn't been on here before, and I don't want her to feel too out of the loop (I mean, I feel out of the loop, and I am on here). And we'll be driving from Orlando, leaving around 8:30. So probably no tailgate. I will try to make the toast at the pub, though. I can't wait to meet you all!
