Title: Queen looking for work.
Post by: Syrilla on August 09, 2009, 10:35:39 AM
Is your festival looking for a New Queen or a Lady in Waiting with experience?  Then look no further!  Lords and Ladies, you are about to be introduced to the One and the Only... Lady Kimberly!!!!!!  She comes with a full wardrobe (the period of your choice), and more than enough talent to woo any King.

This is a limited time offer.  If you hurry now to your scribes, I will throw in Not One, Not Two, but THREE references and a resume.

IS THAT ALL, you ask?  NO!  Because, I am in a good mood today, I will include A PREVIEW WEEKEND!  You can have Lady Kimberly come to your festival and see what she can do!

Here is just a sample of all that is included:

I loved the way you staged your ad! I'm working with the Bay Area Ren Fest kings (Henry VIII and the Holy Roman Emperor) trying to help find them gigs. Good idea to post it here and the way you did!  ;D

Do you have any Spanish garb? I could arrange a marriage between you and the Holy Roman Emperor if you wanted to be Isabella. (Yeah, you'd still have to talk to management, but there *is* an available king).

Yes, Of course, I have Spanish garb!  :D  Now where did I put that accent???

Hi eloquentXI, It was great seeing you there.  Thanks

It would be for BARF, so I don't know if that would help you now since it is Jan-early April. Of the other FL faires, they're pretty much all booked up...something I'm having trouble with since my King needs a job, like *now*.

If you're available for Texas, you might enquire over at the Sherwood Forest Faire board- it's a new faire, Early Medieval, but they are well organized and definitely looking for real talent.

Syrilla, ther's a posting in our FLARF forums regarding a new faire in Miami.

http://www.renaissancefestival.com/forums/index.php?topic=8207.0

It's being presented by the producers of FLARF and will run three weeks. It would be so awesome if you were to find a gig in Florida!

Maybe if you listed when you weren't available for the folks it might help to figure out which fairs you could do??  Just a thought.

I personally can testify to the glorious Lady Kimberly's talents at fair.  I've seen her perform and she is amazing with the audiences and especially the children.  Also, unlike many Kings and Queens, she does not separate herself from her subject for vast amounts of her day, but walks among them and is very available!!

Lady E I will second everything you just said as I to have seen what Lady Kimberly can do at fair as well. I had the pleasure of working with her last year at TNRF on closing weekend (which happened to be rendezvous) and was absolutely amazed at her work in the streets and with the audiences and so forth. Just like you and everybody else I to hope she finds a job soon as well.

There are testaments I could rain down upon my psuedo relative, but I will warrent that there is not enough storage capacity on this server to handle it all.  Needless to say that should anyone say things negative(who would do that??) about her, it will take no time to assemble a mighty host of an army and at quick march we would reduce their lands to rubble.  I might even have a hard time at my age to be able to stay at the head of the army as there are those that I am sure would vying for the honor.

I (Florida) would love (Florida) to see you (Florida) come to (Florida) any of the Faires (Florida) that I (Florida) attend (Florida) on a regular (Florida) basis (Florida).
I'm (Florida) sure (Florida) that there are (Florida) some Faires (Florida) out there (Florida) that would (Florida) greatly benefit (Florida) from having (Florida) another great and talented (Florida) performer like you (Florida) on their cast (Florida)

Any ideas (Florida) where you might end up? (Florida)

Good Syrilla,

If only I had a faire of my own to sweep you away into it as Queen. The lottery could be the way in, but chances are you will find a gig before I ever won that and bought my own faire. I will keep my eye out though. You certainly can fill the spot, for I know first hand. *smile* As for me, I still have a few other faires to do before my season is finished.

OK... lol... that's a loaded question, my friend.
There are actually 22 "Faires" here in Florida, all told... though most are just little pirate festivals or one weekend affairs.
Technically, I'm SUPPOSED to try to make at least an appearance at each of them, though that is very hard to do.
I consider BARF to be my home Faire... it's closest to my house, the cast there have treated me warmly and are wonderful friends... and there's just a certain magical something to it.
I often say "what we lack in size, we more than make up for in character"
Anyone who has been there, I think, will agree.

Count Adolpho my good friend

It need not be as creative as you might think.  The story line is already there

Think Elizabeth and Mary Queen of Scots.

OR

With a french/italian twist

you could do Catherine De Medici and Diane De Poitiers(Henry II of France)

Needless to say either one would be extremely entertaining WOT???????

I had this discussion once with a faire director who shall remain nameless.  The faire was going to be without a royal monarch of any kind and I suggested that the faire consider 2 ladies who were already on cast and that they would make a perfect Elisabeth and Mary Queen of Scots.   However this individual could not see past Henry VIII as King.  His reasoning was "he was the most recognizable".  Which I felt was as dumb a reason as could be used.   If you look around, with only a few exceptions, most faires do only Henry or Elisabeth.     KCRF does a French court scenario, St Louis does Henry II but confuses dates and marriages,  GCRF does their own fictitious King, there may be more, I don't know.   Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with any of these folks and I am in no way disparaging them, but it would be nice to see more of a diverse set of characters.  For example, the Spanish court of Phillip II, the German court(The Holy Roman Emperor),  or the Italian court.    Of course diversity can go haywire.  There was a faire some time back that billed itself as a Renaissance faire that had King Arthur and his knights and they were battled by Robin Hood.  Now come on.    And so M'lord   lordwriothsley, mention this to the powers to be at BARF and see if they are willing to take up the challenge, it is only a matter of adding one character to the cast.

Post by: Count Adolfo on October 16, 2009, 10:23:32 PM
We also have Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor
We don't have an Italian Court, so to speak, but the good Visconte Vincente, Falcone, Isabella and I do our level best to represent the great Kingdom of Italy...

Not being snarky or snide but your right that would have strained the creative juices since none of the six wives were ever in the same place at the same time.   I can think of a few interesting one-liners for that group

If i recall correctly it was each queen had a crack at being queen for a weekend. Sort of a try out for the following year as to who would be Queen superior. The one whom did win out, has been queen for a few years now, and does a superb job.

And no, not historical at all, but, Like I said it was very interesting to experience.

Is your festival looking for a New Queen or a Lady in Waiting with experience?  Then look no further!  Lords and Ladies, you are about to be introduced to the One and the Only... Kimberly!!!!!!  She comes with a full wardrobe (the period of your choice), and more than enough talent to woo any King or Court.

This is a limited time offer.  If you hurry now, to your scribes, I will throw in Not One, Not Two, but THREE references and a resume.
IS THAT ALL, you ask?  NO!  Because, I am in a good mood today, I will include A PREVIEW WEEKEND!  You can have Kimberly come to your festival and see what she can do!

Here is just a sample of all that is included:

The Renaissance and Fantasy of the Ozarks is looking for a Queen.  Faire dates are April 6 through April 7,2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  We do have limited funds so we can not pay as much as a larger faire would.  This will be our 2nd spring faire and the fourth faire that RFFO has had (2 fall faires and 1 spring faire)

If you are interested, please contact us at   rffoentertainment@gmail.com

Our website is http://www.renaissancefaireoftheozarks.com (http://www.renaissancefaireoftheozarks.com)
