While you'll find friends (old and new) and neighbors at CRF every weekend, the weekend of November 15th and 16th, 2008 is the one to mark on your calendar.
All R/F friends are invited to join Clan M'Crack (local Chapters O'Neill & Patrick are the hosts) as it gathers for its annual visit to CRF.
Details will be posted later but you can expect a Friday night gathering at a local establishment serving food and adult beverages (last year we took over the bar at the Galway Hooker); tailgating before opening call on Saturday and Sunday (special of the day are Mimosas); and plenty of great company and an excellent time! :D
Clan M'Crack: http://www.hubsecurity.com/mcrack/phpBB2/portal.php (http://www.hubsecurity.com/mcrack/phpBB2/portal.php)
YEAH!!! I assure thee Brother Hibernian the Galway Hooker is always quite pleased to have us take them over for a night or two! They have given me notice they do prefer ladies in garb, well and the guys too however they really like the ladies in garb! ::)
Lady M aka Strok'n M'Crack
Supreme Duchess of Flirting
While visiting with the friends and family during NCRF, the overall comments were quite good about the Galway Hooker. I realize its early, quite early in fact, yet I'm hoping since you reside in that area you would be willing to take point as it were on the Galway Hooker for 2008. Same routine as last year, we might try and see if they could have a special R/F drink special for the evening, we can talk more over Memorial Day in Tenn.
Sounds good Hibernian. In fact I have been in since, Kelly the manager makes a point to converse with my table and guests several times throughout the night. I assured him we would return and he was quite pleased. I am certain we can get a drynk special, see you soon.
Huzzah!!!!! We will try to make it!
Lady Jai and I will be there if at all possible. She fell in love with CRF last year, and can't wait to get back!
It would be great to see both our friends from the Carolina Piedmont and that fine Commonwealth of Virginia. So mark the calendars now, save those sick days, and bribe the approver of vacation time at work. The local RFers and M'Cracks plan to make CRF a must visit in the Fall.
As you maybe well aware - Lady Guinness and I will be there ... first round is on .... the bar!
Okay, just booked the rooms ... ready to go!
No rooms booked yet but you better believe m'lady and I will be there! Wouldn't miss it! Already on the calendar!
Yeah!!! The plans are in the works...I have a feeling I shall be hostessing many that weekend!
I suspect we'll have to up the bottles of champagne and orange juice for the morning tailgates.
We'll start the official attendance thread once we get closer to the date. In the meantime everyone should follow the M'Crack lead and circle that date on the calendar NOW! It will be a glorious weekend... :D
Good day to the CRF clan! I'm a Georgia lass who will be visiting your faire in the fall...not sure if invasion weekend will work, but I'll keep you posted! Just wanted to introduce myself and I look forward to meeting you all!
Susannah please renmail me if you need a place for your family to stay, I'd be happy to host you!
Thanks for your gracious offer, Lady M!! It warmed my heart!!! I'll keep you posted if our trip doesn't work with my brother's schedule (we've been meaning to see his new house and he's in Huntersville). Thanks again!! :)
Huzzah!!! a mini Rendevoux. Since we could not make it to TN, we are seriously lookinf forward to CRF!
Your cup awaits you at the tailgate!
There was a great turnout last year and I suspect we may break through that number this year. I'll start posting details toward the end of summer. Last year there were board members at every week, but the final weekend which is also the Clan M'Crack Invasion is THE weekend to be at CRF.
Mark your calendar today and we'll see the two of you this fall.
M'Crack weekend indeed! We had so much fun last year that we forgot half of it ;D
To the pub my friends ... to the pub!
Sir Oswyn and myself are tentatively on the attendance list and we've penciled in CRF for M'Crack weekend!
We'll know schedules better later in the year but if there's any way possible we'll be there!

When did you all do a tailgate last year?
Last weekend, both days, in the morning before faire.
What time in the morning? I was there both mornings, but I guess I did not know about this. I might've been the youngest one there, but it woulda been nice to meet people.
I seem to remember festivities started around 8 or 8:30 am.
And unless you are 5 you wouldn't have been the youngest one there! LOL :)
Oh, I was never there that early. What did you all do until the faire opened? Play games? Bring food?
I might come to it this year..
Lady de la Warr remembers well, my white truck entered the front parking lot between 8 and 8:30, early enough so that I was in the first row of the season ticker/VIP/handicapped parking lot just short of the main gate! The first of M'Cracks and the R/Fers showed up shortly thereafter. Our numbers continued to grow the closer to opening we got and we had quite the good time.
What do we do at a tailgate? Reminds me of a song from Camelot, "Oh what do the simple folk do...." Actually, the tailgate opens whenever you happen to arrive. Come early or just stop by before opening, you'll find friends you never knew and commrades from previous years to catch up with, there are adult beverages (Mimosas as taught to me at MDRF by Scotsman and Lady Guinness, and Guinness for Himself of course), there will also be non-alcohol drinks, usually some food to break your fast, and some great conversation. I dare say you'll even find some fellow London Broil Core Audience and some folks you can convert!
Whether one is an R/F or a M'Crack or someone entirely new, its a friendly gathering for all ages where all are welcomed. Come on by Lady Tess, puts some faces with the names and expand upon the CRF expeience!
What Hibernian said! ;)
Other things we do:
Finish getting dressed/assist each other with final dressing, garb adjustments (Joust'n is VERY good at adjusting the Queen's little "issues" :) ), general horseplay and in the case of the M'Cracks - Chieftan meetings, pet instructions, planning of the day (for things that had been left at "to be determined" status, etc.
Yes, please come, it's all good fun! I'm sure we'll be there with a mimosa or two (maybe doughnuts, too).
Keep an eye out for the M'Crack banner:

That sounds like fun! Since I do go to CRF every Saturday & Sunday, I'll need more info. when it gets closer.. but I would like to join and meet everybody.
Awe ... thoughts of tailgate drifting through the regents of my mind ... unlike the rest of you, I can barely remember it ... for some reason ;D
R/F invasion and M'Crack Family gathering on the same weekend.......That seems to be happening a lot lately......And it makes it so much FUN.
It certainly does Guard'n...........it certainly does!!
Lady Di and I and our two lads are a tenative yes. It would be our first visit to CRF. Baltimore Ravens are away and the boys are done with football by then.
Oh goody, it would be great to have y'all!
I think you guys would have a most excellent time at CRF. It's a beautiful place. We REALLY liked it, can't wait to get back.
One warning- it can be COLD, but that's pretty cool in itself!

Compaired to VARF and MDRF a chilly faire might be a nice change of pace. See you in a week.
Thanks Lady M. If we can't get you to come to us this year we'll have to come to you. ;D

You guys are so coool!!! ;D
Count me In! I plan to be there for the Invasion weekend. ;D
Just a friendly reminder from your local security dude.
The ONLY place alcohol is allowed to be consumed is inside the show, and no outside alcoholic beverages may be brought in.
This is due to the Alcoholic Beverage Control laws. If we were to be caught with people drinking in the parking lot, I believe that they would have their license to sell inside pulled for 30 business days - not m-f days, but actual business days. Which means in a business that operates 2 days a week for 7 weeks, roughly 2 years of no license.
So keep this in mind at your tailgate parties...
Well we can get plenty of practice for invasion this weekend at MDRF! ;D
It would be nice for CRF to give it's guests a "real pub" which would consist of; SITTING DOWN, enjoying conversation with friends while consuming adult beverages purchased at said pub.

Agreed ... but your faire serves Guinness ... there is something to be said about that ;D
I know that this is going to be a little off subject but I just wanted to take a minute and give a big Huzzah to my good friend Tom Stephens for just being named for the role of King for this years 2008 season.Congratulations and good luck to you, I know you will do well.

Scratch the word "tenative". We are a yes.
Huzzah ;D
My husband and I will be there for Invasion weekend this year after a one year absense. I'm hoping it will be cool and not hot as I would really love to wear my noble garb and it's too hot we cannot. So, assuming the weather stays cool, we'll be looking like this!
And at the end of the day, we may very well look like this...all tired from a fun day of faire!
I hope to be able to meet all of you!
I like that garb renfairewench did you make all yourself?
The count for Invasion weekend is already in the thirties and that count does not include a fair number of M'Cracks! Looks like this may be a banner year for the CRF Invasion.
Renfairewench not only will it most likely be cool enough for your noble garb, you'll need it! It has been cold for closing weekend of Faire for the last several years!
Dallan and Lady Di, look forward to seeing you and those fyne lads of yours again very soon indeed! *Draws back bow to practice the shoot.*

There are plenty of places to buy a beer - just no place to sit down at them. They're all like the "pub" along Kenwood Lane at Revel Grove, with not so much as a barstool. From what I have heard, this policy is deliberate and unlikely to change. IIRC, they also don't start serving beer on Sunday until after noon.
You certainly do get around my friend. Thanks for the info. BTW - the boys spotted you first the other Sunday.
If I recall correctly, this is also the same faire at which one can only buy one tiny cup of mead at a time. Can't do the 'pour two cupfuls into the mug' bit. NC ABC laws, according to the vendor I chatted with last year.
You are correct only one fisted drinking ... you just have to drink faster ;D

Well, actually, if you don't mind being all the way at the end, next to their "mud" stage, Dextre Trip for most of the day, formerly Ded Bob's stage (he was moved to perform on Don Juan & Miguel's most of the day performing stage last year) there is a tent bar with a couple of picnic tables and even the privies are nearby. ;)
That is the one I prefer going to. ;)
I just finalized my dates and I'll be attending the 15th! So make room for another "adopted" Mcrack member for the day! I look forward to meeting you all!

I never knew this existed! Is the mud stage the one by the petting zoo?
No the one right in front of the petting zoo is the caravan stage or something along those lines. Now if you take the lane right next to this stage, them you will get to the part of the faire I was talking about.

;D Spoken like a true M'Crack.
"IIRC, they also don't start serving beer on Sunday until after noon."
This is why we love tailgating :)
Yes, North Carolina does have a "more restrictive" view on alcohol than some areas. It is for this same reason that adult beverages at the tailgate can not be seen openly flowing. Alcohol being consumed in the parking lot could be enough cause to yank the alcohol permit from the entire faire for the season! That is why we must be subtle.
Hmmm, subtle and Scotsman. Do those go together? ;D

Good question Dallan. ;D
Gentlemen, your point is well taken, monitoring Scotsman is a constant struggle which is why we try to get him inside to the pub as quickly as possible to keep things legal.
Yeah a sober Scotsman would be hard to recognize. ;D
Let it be known ... I am the "tame" one at tailgate! I save my Merriment for inside mostly. Now Lady Guinness on the other hand ..... can you say Mimosa!
No worries friends, I will not get you in trouble via alcohol in the parking lot ... nudity on the other hand ...
This is not something I want to see first thing in the morning :o
Quick, more cigars, we need a bigger smoke screen!
