As a little girl my mother told me that God gave us five senses to use so that we might experince the world around us...I understood...the physics of the statement of course...but my first day at faire ...well that was when all of my senses came alive...
The sounds of life
Cannons firing along the open wall
Women haggling over gowns for a ball
Swords clasing upon the field of honor
But wait there is more...
The sights of life
Banners wave as they tell tales
Buxom ladies watch handsome males
Castles rise against the sun as it falls
Happyness sits upon one and all
But wait there is more
The smell of life...
Smoky wood lit in a blaze
Meat on a stick left to braze
First mornings dew on leather and horse
Musky aroma of a stable grow stronger through days course
But wait there is more
A touch of life....
Sun kissed skin welcomes a breeze
Tired limbs take comfort leaning on the rough bark of treees
Haunches of a mare heavy between your thighs
Joyously aching muscles as you climb the rise
But wait there is more
The taste of life....
Sweet ambrosia mead lies heavy on the toungue
Sweat salts the day as long the body it runs
Haggis reminds all that this is home
One more Scottish Egg before days done
Yes there is still more
The heartbeat of life....
Thundering hoves approach the gate
Proud boots march through the planes at many a rate
The gentle hum of the ladies loom
Mixs with the mighty roar of the smiths forge,
The cannons boom
There is more
Dear friends tis true
But I could never find words
To tell it all to you
Please take my hand
And let us alight
To this place magical...
Both day and night
Fantastic......Love your poems Dracconia! Also you made the wait for SRF much more unbearable lol ;)
Nice imagery! Very visual poem. I love reading things that can transport me to a place. Thanks for sharing!
