Title: Cheap chemise source?
Post by: Philomel on November 29, 2009, 11:01:11 PM
I need a replacement chemise and my sewing machine is in storage 6 hours away, and I'm not going to be able to get it soon enough.  Does anyone have a good source for chemises?  It kills me to spend $50 on something I could make for less than $10!

Ebay.  You probably don't need a full-length one, so that will save you money, too.  Here's one for 19.00 (http://cgi.ebay.com/WOMENS-RENAISSANCE-FAIRE-LONG-SLEEVE-CHEMISE-LARGE-SCA_W0QQitemZ160317626512QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2553acd890) (including shipping).

If you want to think outside the box, try looking for a plain white cotton nightgown.  My first 3 chemses were nightgowns.  One is a brushed flannel and still gets used for extreme cold weather wear.

Hmm...well I haven't found any plain nightgowns either- the only ones I can find have flowery stuff all over them!

I do need something full length, or I'll need a separate underskirt (may need one anyway)
