Title: Snow, in Houston??
Post by: Zardoz on December 04, 2009, 01:20:01 PM
for about the 3rd time in my life, it's snowing in Houston. Nothing too spectacular, but they are getting a few inches nearer the coast.

Out in my driveway about noon, 34 Degrees F. , big flakes, but they're only sticking to Max the dog....

About an hour later, 31 Degrees, Winter Wonderland (Houston version)

I'll post some more if it gets interesting...

I was walking my dog Max when it started snowing. Though my Max is a lot smaller than yours. I'm a bit north of Houston and it hasn't started sticking that much here yet, only started a bit ago, sometime around 2ish.

West side of Houston, checking in. Snow is coming and going. Kids are out in the streets beating the crap out of each other with snow balls. The Sonic employees down the street have started collecting snow and ice and begun making snow cannons. Look out, they're smarter than they look LOL!

Well....About 2 PM, I took my mother in-law to lunch, 32 degrees, still coming down pretty steady...

Her car was pretty well coated...

We had a few flakes here in San Antonio around 11ish, just enough to say it snowed but not enough to stick or anything like that
Thankfully...
Now, someone pass me an aerosol spray can so we can get this global warming going again.

*My rum don't like the cold, it told me so*

it was snowing in Pasadena at 8:30 this morning, sticking by 10.  By noon, when they sent us home, it was starting to melt and had switched to rain.  It doesn't appear to have snowed at all in Texas City.

about 4 PM, Snow and snow-ish precipitation has stopped here. My wife out in Sealy, 45 miles west of here, says it's clearing up there.

Interesting and fun while it lasted  ;)

Everyone be careful out there.  It's pretty frozen out there - I had to carry the dog up the stairs as he panicked about half way up.

LOL, too true, southern texans don't know how to drive in snow and ice!!! I'm up in Huntsville and my poor dog has no clue what to do with snow, he's so confused.

It's not snow. It doesn't snow in Houston. It's probably radioactive fall-out.

You're exactly right. It's radioactive particles of oil by-products pumped deliberately into the air by the evil oil companies!!! Big Al said so.

The ducks and geese looked at me funny this morning trying to get a drink of water. Seems their baths got mighty hard overnight. And it's official. I have a duck that thinks it's Jesus! I wish I'd had the camera when I walked out this morning. Little black duck slipping around on what should have been a morning bath!! Too funny!

They also have these things called, get this... coats!  It's something you wear when the temperature drops low enough for it to... SNOW!!!

Oh... and we may need to wait until you've absorbed that before we start on the (gasp)... snow tires!!!

Or maybe whiteout conditions... salted roads (well, they sorta got that already...)... school closures... We could go on, but I think they're already starting to forget it even happened! :D

because I grew up in Southeast Alaska, I keep getting asked to drive in this stuff. I have to point out that I grew up in Sitka, which has a total of 12 miles of linear road, and more people owned boats than cars. I didn't drive till I wound up in the lower 48 :D

Me and Kirby in the snow!  If you can't tell, Kirby was saying between chattering teeth "Hurry up!  It's cold out here!"

The Heights in a "blizzard" (yeah, I know what one really looks like after all those years growing up in NJ, but this is impressive for Houston)!  We were packing for Dickens on the Strand in the snow and hoping it would follow us to Galveston for an evening out in proper Victorian weather.
