Hey,
I'm currently doing a couple projects spiffing up coats, and as part of that, I'd like to put some shiny new metal buttons on them.
I'm having a bit of trouble finding good ones on eBay, and I was wondering if any of ye fellow garbers had recommendations for good button-dealers. I'm looking for something large (~1"), metallic, and preferably with a neat design on it.
Thanks!
I have used the buttondrawer and was happy with their selection/prices.

I really like "No One's Business". Very friendly.

Thank you for those. Some lovely things there.
I was JUST hunting for buttons and trim last night! If I don't hear back from the home based business button shopkeeper in a few days then I am going to call button drawer and place an order. Oh my gosh, their celtic selection is DIVINE! and they have the draco buttons I want. Wow!

Caveat: only if you need them in bulk.
Might also try Fugawee. http://www.fugawee.com/button%20page.htm
JoAnn has a lot of neat buttons.
There was an eBay vendor called DaVinci's Cousin(formerly Pomegranate Costume Supply) that went out of business where I would order 4 dozen lots of unique buttons.
I order my buttons by the dozens or gross from www.pillagevillage.com (http://www.pillagevillage.com) and www.laceheaven.com (http://www.laceheaven.com)
Sweet. I ordered two sets of buttons from Fugawee; once I get them in, I can finally finish this coat I've been modding for my friend.
Herself really like Fugawee. They have, or at least had, samplers that they charge for.
Sounds about right. I should have posted this topic amonth ago! Instead, stumbling around online I wind up with enough buttons for THREE captain's coats, and ButtonDrawer is based out of my (current) home state!
Oh wells ... www.treasurecast.com (http://www.treasurecast.com) has some lovely designs, and I ordered some very nice shiny brass ones from www.waterburybutton.com (http://www.waterburybutton.com) and they have an ENDLESS catalogue online (seriously), and multiple finishes. Although while the waterbury buttons looks great, they are not solid metal and thus not truly "period" - I don't mind because a pirate coat is generally out of time anyways at a faire. =)
Joann's has some nice ones too, although I found them too small, and you can special order buttons during a sale if you're looking for a bargain price.

I just purchased a set of buttons from www.houseofanoria.com
Good communication and I LOVE the buttons. Excellent price, no minimum. Problem is that she is selling off her button business. You can check out her website, she'll post a link when the new button shopkeeper has taken over. It seems it is difficult to make a living on the profit margin provided by button sales.
Hey, Blushing. I agree with you that the Waterbury Company has a HUGE selection of both style and finish; however, their prices are definitely on the high end. I got ideas from them, but ended up buying elsewhere. Your mileage may vary.
