Title: Schedule of Events?
Post by: bellevivre on January 04, 2010, 04:03:44 PM
Hubby and i are debating staying Friday and Saturday, or just Friday- are there any events/meetups pre-faire scheduled friday night?

Also, is there a schedule for meeting, etc inside?

(it's my first Rendezvous and i's excited!!)

Meg and I are working dilligently to get the schedule up soon. I'm procuring the Friday night party place, which will be in Waxahachie's historic downtown, and we're planning an early-ish RF dinner for Saturday evening. I know that a lot of people may be leaving mid-day on Sunday to return home, so Sunday night will be a "do-what-you-wish" kind of thing. There will be a scheduled meetup in the morning in the FoF area which will include an AM tailgate, and a meetup to watch the parade and do a group photo at 1pm near the Cat and Fiddle. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Yeah, I pointed out to hubby last night that with our Holiday Inn points we can get one of the nights free, but he's still grousing about staying two nights... but I think I can get him to acquiesce if I promise we can ride the motorcycle...

and he calls ME unsocial (not antisocial, just shy! lol)

Stay two day and get a chance to hang with me!! (I'm staying in the same hotel  :) Maybe we should call and try to get nearby rooms!)  Maybe we'll talk about a TRF feast??

Just a suggestion for the Saturday dinner, don't know if they are busy but the food is fantastic and it is listed as one of the most haunted places in America! They say the ladies' restroom is very haunted!

I always MEAN to go there- but...mmm... Chisolm Grill owns my soul!! And, we have always stayed at the Rogers, so it was within walking distance (still so sad there's no Rogers for me this year- I've never NOT stayed there!!!)

We've been to the Catfish Plantation twice now, it's yummy!  If we were to have a RF gathering there, we'd have to rent out the whole place!

You're right m'lady. We would have to book the entire place. They'd probably do it if given enough advance notice. It's a good taste of local flavor, the food's always excellent, the service is very friendly and it is near enough to most lodging. Just an idea, hey I can eat anywhere!!!

We're actually planning the dinner at Ryan's, because it's been my experience that post RenDezvous-ers are in NEED of a buffet LOL! That and there are private rooms for parties there. Sunday night is a "do what you want" night, so I may try out Chisholm Grill then, or hightail it to Chili's with the gypsies for my birthday.

I'm just going to be happy to have my favorite pyrate in the state of Texas and at my faire for two days.  :-*

We're still discussing dinner options and suggestions for people. As with the entire schedule, these are all just suggestions and organized madness so that we can get as many of our people in the same place and wreak hav, I mean...have fun and socialize.  ;D

"Official" or "unofficial,"  eating barbecue any time is fine with me!  When it gets closer, I'll take up your offers about where to eat, and el, if I can't find any (ha ha), you bet you can bring me some!    ;D

There's plenty of barbecue in Texas!!! And Bar-b-q, bbq, bar-b-que and Bar-b-cue...plenty of good places. I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions.

Now, Blue and El. You guys seem to be doing the lion's share of work on this thing and just be sure that you get other people to share the load. Don't want you to burn out. This being Blue's b'day you wanna be able to enjoy that and not get stuck with too much work. Assign some tasks, or get plenty of volunteers nailed down so you guys don't have to make all of the decisions and do all the leg work. Plenty of us are familiar with all things Scarby and make sure you take advantage of those of us who are very willing to make this a blast. Again, this is my 20th anniversary at Scarby and I intend to celebrate all season long. Gonna try to make at least one day of every weekend and I know many others who should be able to help. Scarborough Faire is our Faire and I can't wait to show her off. This is going to be a fantastic event and I for one don't want someone working so hard that they miss out on some of the fun.

Throw wide the gates and let........

Thanks for the concern Ryk. We're actually not faring too bad, and have doled out a lot of the pre-responsibilities. Come time though, I'm sure we'll need lots more volunteers. And since I'm epically lazy, I can guarantee I'll be "passing the buck" LOLOL.

Thanks so much, Ryk! We appreciate your concern and support greatly, and no worries, we'll most definitely be needing help as it gets closer!

Count me in as a volunteer. I live just a little north of Dallas. It takes me about an hour to an hour an a half to Scarby, depending on traffic. I will be going with 2 of my sons and one of their girlfriend. I sure they would also like to help. Let me know.

Some of the best fabric shops in town are located on Perth Street.  They have strange hours, though, so whether you can get to them or not depends on what time you're getting in, really.  There's an entire side street of fabric warehouses, and several of them are VERY familiar with Scarby folke coming in for costuming needs. :)
