Chapter 2: Gilbert Lanoue and Neptune's Daughter
If you choose to use Trade/ Craft, Charm/ Seduction. Intimidation, or Thievery on Crab you succeed. Add 1 point to your Pirate Code score for gaining a valuable buccaneering weapon!
If you kill Crab he dies quickly with a gasp. You get the French Musket but subtract 2 points from your Pirate Code score.
Obviously you can just buy the Musket. Add one point to your Pirate Code score for gaining a valuable buccaneering weapon!
----
Down at the Hick's Cove docks you meet up with Gilbert Lanoue. Gilbert is a roguishly handsome buccaneer of French descent born in the Caribbean. He has thick chestnut colored hair pulled back in a short pony tail and wears a long drooping mustache. He is quite tan from a shipboard lifestyle. You'd guess Gilbert is in his late 30's but it is hard to tell. His Code score is 11.
Gilbert has heard of you and offers you a position aboard Neptune's Daughter. If you have the Gunnery skill at the Exceptional or Master level he offers you the position of Gunners Mate. If you have the Shipwright skill or have chosen Carpentry as your Trade/ Craft skill at the Exceptional or Master level he offers you the position of Carpenters Mate. If you have taken either the Leadership or Sailing skill at the Exceptional or Master level he offers you the position of Bosun. All of these titled positions pay an additional share of treasure. Otherwise you are considered to be a regular member of the crew and earn one share of the treasure.
The Neptune's Daughter is fine looking pinnace armed with eight swivel guns and able to hold a cargo of roughly 20 tons and can hold up to 40 souls. You see that the ship has seen some battle damage but is in fine shape! Currently Captain Gilbert's goal is to sail to Port Royal and join another crew for a shore raid upon a new Spanish colony. Full articles will be written up in Jamaica. Gilbert has heard of this secret colony from a trio of Indian with whom he regularly trades with. You help to load supplies and provisions aboard the ship and make ready for a journey!
On board the ship you quickly make friends with two fellow crewmen. "Mister. Gallant" is a former slave who was born in West Africa and captured as a child. He tells you a haunting tale of his passage to the Caribbean. Gallant is a short skinny black man with a beautiful singing voice and a cheerful attitude. He was trained as a sail maker and is very skillful in fighting with a boarding pike. Adam Cotton was born in the New England colonies, his parents' indentured servants. A life of farming held no interest to Adam who took a ship St. Kitts at age 14. Adam is perhaps the largest and strongest member of the crew. Everyone calls for his help raising the anchor or hauling on the lines. He is known to be a little naïve and is often teased for his rural and rustic ways.
Neptune's Daughter sets sail with the tide. After about three days of sailing you encounter a bit of rough weather. A heavy squall throws the pinnace about and soaks you with rain. Suddenly on the horizon the look out discovers a sail. Captain Gilbert orders pursuit and you use the storm as cover as you move closer. Luck is not so kind to the Neptune's Daughter as you discover not a fat merchant ship but instead a Spanish Frigate! A spy glass shows that this ship is called "El Toro de Blanco", the White Bull and a known pirate hunter. Within in a moment the hunter becomes the hunted as the Spanish Frigate turns directly toward your small pinnace. Captain Gilbert orders retreat but it is too late. More bad new is that with the squall most of the powder is wet! The Spanish in the El Toro de Blanco move to board the Neptune's Daughter, the gunwales bristling with soldiers ready for combat.
What dry powder can be found is used to load the starboard side swivel guns. Men arm themselves with hand weapons and prepare for battle. You are given the choice of firing a swivel gun or repelling boarders. Which do you choose? Will you serve on a gun crew or enter close combat fighting and repel boarders?
Oooo, -2 for killin the punk....
Oh well. My pirate is an exceptional gunner, so count me in for the gun crew!
I like things that go BOOM! and the smell of gunpowder.
So yeah, I'll take the gun crew.
Besides, I'm more apt to break a nail on a grappling hook.

*passes a bundle over to one of the Spanish pirates*

*starts taking off weave and earrings and fake fingernails*
-2 for an act of mercy? Man, that's tough! :P ;)
Well, it seems we've got a couple of gunners already... I'll take my cutlass and help repel boarders.
Y ya que hablo un poco de espanol, quisa puedo convencer a unos miembros de la tripulacion espanol de desertar de El Torito Blanco y unirse a nosotros...
And since I speak some Spanish, perhaps I can convince some of the Spanish crew to desert the Little White Bull and join us...
I've got a cutlass and a pistol, and I ain't afraid to use 'em! Count me in on the welcoming committee! ;D
" Hmm.. Gunnner or use my pistol and cutlass ? "
< I see Welsh Wench in her red dress and high heels.>
" I got it now ! "
< I sneak up behind a couple Spanairds while Welsh Wench is doing a fine job of distracting them and fire my pistol, taking a couple of Spanairds out , then searches their pockets and finds a dagger, a pistol and 2 flasks of Tequilla and smiles and sings>.
" It is just another Tequilla sunrise ..." ;D

Scoot over Wenchie, your hair is taking up most of the space in this tiny little hole!
It's the humidity down here.
I swear, next time I arrange a cocktail boarding party, we choose a place that's not so humid.
*puts hair up in a ponytail*
Lady Amy, I wore the red dress because the black one is still at the drycleaners.
Thanks for that, Blue! The chances of me getting a load of grapeshot in the keister just went way down! ;D
Jack, your keister is safe in my hands.
Did I say that out loud? :o
My new red dress...are we in port yet? I feel a sin coming on.

And that's the way I like it! ;D ;)
Who stole the Kieshka??
Yeah, well, someone needs to take me out for salsa dancing as a reward for a gun well shot.
I've got such a roguemouth for that one, but I'll just take you dancing instead, love! ;) ;D
I'm happy as long as the gun's not aimed at my face...
*claps hands over her mouth*
So, uh, did we win?
Have I told you lately how much I wuvs you, ZipCode? ;D
I think the battle is still raging.
*shakes gunpowder out of her BIG bleached naturally blonde HAIR*

I like the red dress, plus red is better for hot salsa dancing ! :) ;)
It also hides the salsa when you drip it on your dress. ;)
LOL! ;D Hmm..I would not mine seeing both Jack and Captain Spleen Salsa dance.
OOps did i just say that? ;D ;)

So is all that fun natural, or does it come with the box of peroxide??? Oh, em, you missed a spot...
*wipes off a half dollar sized smudge of gunpowder off of Wenchie's cheek*
Dem, you mean that is not my blush-on?
Yeah, 40 volume fun-in-a-box!
Without the cracker jacks. :(
*nails sign up for Blue's baby*
There! Isn't it nice?

Yep, and the little belch will come out, guns blazing, just like her mother.
This is because of that "pink" thing, isn't it?
Of course! After all, it is important to have the proper footwear!

Now really, if I were, do you think the ren community would turn over on it's ear??? I almost think so!
Can't forget the noisemaker! A rattle just wouldn't do...

LOL Blue. I was just thinking the same thing, that I would not mind having that pink pistol and those shoes are adorable, but there no way I'm going thru the child birth thing again ! ::) ;D
