That's not a bad idea at all. Speaking of Houston, I just moved here from more up north to Spring, North Houston, what have you, 77069 area code...anyone of RF live near that area? Dont mean to lead the thread off topic, just curious.

There might be a group in that area, but I don't recall hearing of one.  Ask a cast member from TRF, if you know any (there are some on this group).  In Dallas we call it "Historical Dance" or "English Country dance".  We also had an Italian Court dance/16thC group a few years back.  Expand your keyword search, you may find some people from other faires in your area that would get together and teach basic dances.

Good luck,

Capt Marga

I'm in Cypress (near Willowbrook)-- which is the NW side of Houston.  Don't know of any classes out here, but I'm still getting used to the area myself.

The stuff I've seen is mostly Scottish or Irish dance classes.   I was the choreographer at TRF for many years, but I don't know enough dances to actually hold classes for any length of time.

We shall synchronise watches and figure out times to meet up. Why should faire stop just because there isn't one going on at the moment..I submit it should not!

A renaissance dance party..sounds redundant as dancing happens whever the ren-spirit is present. Sorry about the thread-jack. Ask Fraser, it seems to be what I am good at on here...as for Blue..partay? Not heaping it on her, but why not..I don't mean specifically at Blue's but why not a party in this area...   Whenever is best and a faire isn't in progress...the long gap between Scarby seems quite nice. I dunno, just spit balling. But, this is all best suited for a seperate thread. I digress. BACK TO THE DANCING!
