I am hoping someone can help me here. I came across a bunch of Pfaff sewing machine needles at a thrift store, and of course I snapped them up! Unfortunately the numbers on them are unfamiliar to me. Can anyone tell me what the numbers mean? (fine, medium,heavy..etc...) I have 80, 110, and 120. I'd rather not just experiment with them!

80 is standard. 90 and 100 are heavy duty for a domestic machine. You probably don't want to be sewing anything tough enough to need a 110, and definitely not a 120! Check that they are the correct type for your machine, especially the heavier ones.
Sounds like you might need to get a Pfaff commercial machine to go with your new needles.
;D
Thanks for the info! I guess I wont try to use the heavier needles. I don't want to muck up my machine, or any projects. I have enough regular needles to last a good while.
When I worked at the Costume shop years ago, I sewed on Pfaff machines. We used the standard 90/14 needles. The higher the number, the tougher the fabric. 80's were used on silks and polyester stretch fabrics.
