Title: St. Molden's Weekend Accommodations
Post by: Lady Renee Buchanan on February 18, 2010, 08:53:30 PM
As an out-of-state visitor, I'm curious as to where others are staying, the folks who are coming for the weekend, for whom BARF isn't their home faire.  Can you please post where you'll be staying, to give those of us who haven't made hotel reservations yet, some ideas?

Thanks.

Can't wait to see everyone!

I have my room booked at
TAMPA NEAR BUSCH GARDENS-USF
Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites
11310 NORTH 30TH STREET
TAMPA, FL 33612

Reasonable rate, easy access to all areas I want to go and I trust "Holiday Inn" name.   :D  Plus, they have a good military discount. ;D

There are some areas around BARF where you probably wouldn't want to stay.  I would suggest staying on Fletcher or Fowler if you can (there are some nice places on Fletcher near Morris Bridge Road that are in a "nicer," more executive area.  A lot of places on Busch have turned into no-tell motels.  Maybe I'm just a hotel snob, but check with a local before you book because it is a great rate.  Best of luck and can't wait to see you all!

Still waiting to hear back on one more hotel, but we'll probably stay at La Quinta Tampa East Fairgrounds, 4811 US Hwy 301 N.

Thanks, Seamus!     ;D

Hey Sunshine -

Not sure yet, but we will probably leave around 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning, so probably late afternoon. Don't feel like you have to make any special arrangements for us, though. We will work around your schedule. We just appreciate you putting up with us, and we can't wait to see you!

I really can't wait! I love entertaining and hosting guests so it is MY pleasure!  I am done with work at 3:15 so I will definitely be home.  Any special requests (besides pink paratroopers and a Guiness truck)?

Sounds like I may be the only one stay here: La Quinta Inn & Suites USF
3701 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612 (813) 910-7500 ?

I think I can walk from the hotel but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't.... just because Fowler is a very busy road filled with stupid college kids who can't drive....

LOL

...I'm more scared of the tourists who come in to go to Busch Gardens and the parents who bring their kids to check out the school than the college students themselves...most of them walk when they can.

USF is the biggest commuter school in the state.  Having attended and been involved in accidents on Fowler because of morons kids who can't drive, I assure, you MOST of the students DON'T walk.
