Just a heads-up.
Sherwood Forest Faire http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/ (http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/) had a Media Day event last weekend. This coming weekend is opening weekend of its first year.
Here are some snaps of the people, grounds, etc... from media day.

Whomever did this carving, did a magnificent job!

Robin and Marion, your hosts...

There was music (including Circa Paleo! w00t!), dancing, combat, crafts, it was impressive. Almost like a real day at faire, EXCEPT the majority of people were in garb! Now that was cool!

Looks great! Can't wait to see it in person!
Were there a lot of "media" present at media day?
I don't know how many media attended as I wasn't giving the tour. RenGypsy could probably tell ya.
Great photography. I was so busy with various things there that I didn't get exactly who showed up for media day as well.
Looks fantastic! :)
Great pics Melkar, they rock indeed!!
Some pics Samedi took of Opening Saturday:

It was a wonderful time at a brand new and beautiful faire! :)
I'm still fooling with them, but here are mine from opening Saturday;

OOOH! What fun to see Sherwood opening pictures already! It was way too much Fun!!!
Nice shots! Lucky you, Zardoz, to see the wedding! What is that Stonehenge looking ring? Forgive my ignorance, but I've never been to Sherwood Forest Faire.

Well, for lack of a more elegant description, it is a stone circle of 7 standing stones, called 'The Seven Sisters'

Cool. Thank-you for the reference!
Great pictures! I was especially happy to see The Trip to Jerusalem Pub. I've been to the real one in Nottingham, and it's about the same size. Not kidding, I don't think you could fit 10 people in there. It's carved into the side of the hill below Nottingham Castle.
Pictures from opening Saturday of Sherwood Forest Faire are online:

Amazing turnout, parking area was around 3/4 full or more. Wow!

A great kick-off to the season!
I put all the Sherwood Forest 2010 galleries in a "folder" on Smugmug (they call it a sub-category, whatever). Anyway, as I add galleries you can just hit
http://vstrick.smugmug.com/RenFaires/SWFF2010/ (http://vstrick.smugmug.com/RenFaires/SWFF2010/)
and you should get the full set of galleries for this season.
Great pictures Melkar, as usual! ;D

Hahahahaha! That's my little boy watching Robin Hood and his men (and Lady Marian) on stage. I think he was their sole audience member that day on that stage.
The crowds were so thin there on Saturday that my kids pretty much decided that they owned that stage and that the performers were just sharing it with them temporarily. :)

I'm so happy we were able to make it out for Sherwood's inaugural year! We even got a faire virgin out there with us, and he loved it! We will definitely be back next year!

I don't recall if I posted a link to my Sherwood galleries here. If I did I have overlooked them while skimming this thread.
What a fabulous debut year!
