Title: Need help picking beginner chain mail kit for Milord
Post by: gem on February 27, 2010, 05:03:44 PM
Milord and I are working on a Gimli ensemble (http://www.warofthering.net/quintessential/movieshots/gimli_standing.jpg) for him. He's recently finished the tooling on a pair of leather gauntlets, and as his birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, he's expressed some interest in trying his hand at chain mail.

We've ordered from the Ring Lord in the past (bought his brother a coif kit), but I'm finding myself totally overwhelmed by the variety in their "starter kits (http://theringlord.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=97&cat=Experimentation+Kits&websess=35457541453668)." It's like there's too much of the wrong kind of information, and I can't make heads or tails of it.

Can anyone help? We'd take recommendations for other vendors, too!

Gramercy!!

No need to buy a kit.  All it takes is wire, a mandrel, a cutter, and a couple pairs of pliers.
