Title: BARF March 13-14
Post by: Lady Renee Buchanan on March 06, 2010, 01:39:05 PM
Geesh, go to the gym and all h*** breaks loose when I'm gone.  Since 3 of the threads were locked, I started another one.  For EVERYBODY.  There is no hidden agenda.  This should satisfy everyone.

I'll start.

Since it's Irish (or Celtic?) weekend, are there any special events that aren't usually there during the normal faire run?

And is there a band with bagpipes?

*renee jumps up and down clapping.  "I hope so.  I LOVE bagpipes."*

With over 50 people heading to Florida for a RF get-together next weekend, there has to be some place in the BARF threads where they can get information.

Not sure what happened to the threads either......R/F, Clan M'Crack and Ettes/Teers have always shared the threads and planned and pieced the gatherings together.

Obviously there are new rules again, I guess I will just have to get used to the Emporers New Cloths.

The following is cut an pasted here from another thread.  Of which the whole point was to invite the R/Fers that are not members of the different invasion groups to join with us and have some fun....not drama.

OK, as you all know, Rendezvous will be at Scarby this year in April.  This means it's just a month after our traditional St. Patrick's Day / St. Molden's Day Invasion.  In addition, this year will also be the very first Clan O'Conchobhair M'Crack Family Gathering at BARF!  All of this is shaping up to make this year's event a massive one... and being just a month before Rendezvous, I think it's gonna pretty much be a "Pre-Rendezvous Bash"... a chance to get the community all geared up for an amazing Rendezvous at Scarby.
I'd love to see this Gathering be a wondrously large one with an enormous amount of fun... and with all the things that will be going on that weekend, I'm sure that it can be.  So let's get a preliminary idea of how many people will be able to make it and work from there.

And although almost every member of the Clan M'Crack is an R/F member, I apologize if I happen to list them using their M'Crack name verses their R/F name.   I actually don't know them all by their R/F name but I do know the M'Crack names.   It was never meant as a slight to any person or group on the R/F community forum.

At the last Rendevous where we had a little over 200 people from the R/F community attend, over 125 of them were members of the Clan M'Crack.   I hope that our support of R/F events is still welcome, but if not, it has always been up to a member of Clan M'Crack to attend any event they like, but I can ensure that we will not schedule any more of our Family Gatherings or invasions to coincide with any R/F select event.

Laird, I wouldn't let the actions of a single person make you feel that the M'Cracks aren't welcome on the forum.  I am not in the loop and don't pretend to be, but I love this forum and I don't think this is something that is coming from the Administrators.     :(

So, as my Brit says, "let's not get our knickers in a twist," until this is addressed, as I hope it will be by the Administrators and Moderators.

And at this time next week, we all will be having a lovely time at BARF at the Pre RenDezvous Bash.  And my cousin is helping me make a saffron chemise, how 'bout that??!!
;D

Laird, the rules have not changed. What has happened here in the past two days is because of a single individual, and does not represent the other moderators and the rest of the R/F community. Please don't let the misguided actions of one person drive you away.

I would suggest if you have any questions or concerns contact the admins.

For those of you with Facebook accounts, come join our group (http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=342534586556&ref=ts). If you don't have one, sign up, we'd love to see you.

The views and actions of a single person do not represent the views of all.

Lairde, as a Co-Host and Co-Head Planner for the 2010 Rendezvous, I want to extend my hand of welcome to the Clan M'Crack and say that the entire Clan is wanted and hoped to be there in April. We dearly want you all to join us at Scarby so please do not let the pettiness of a single individual bent on creating a scene and drama let you think otherwise.

I cannot wait to meet you in person and everyone else for the Invasion at BARF! I'm gonna have a damn good time when I leave Texas for Florida, to spend time with the people who I care so much for.

Wow... It's hard to find an unlocked thread these days... so this one will work.  I am not planning anything this weekend other than to get better for NEXT weekend.   Where I intend to get together with a few score of my favorite peoples in the whole world...  R/F'ers AND M'Cracks alike.

I am not coughing as much.  My lungs are finally feeling like I may be getting enough oxygen.
Not that that is going to help my brain much.

Trisha and I will be at every gathering we can get to... starting at the Tilted Kilt Friday night. Might get there a little late, as I work for the State and won't get out of Orlando until 5 PM.  Friday Night traffic to Tampa from Orlando is SLOW. Last time it took us 3 hours leaving at that time. Once we close the Tilted Kilt, it's bedtime for a few hours then the morning rituals. FESTIVAL. Sami and Mike's Handfasting. FESTIVAL. Saturday night events. FESTIVAL. Queen's Tea. I am bringing my camera and  three 8 gig cards. No, I don't take the quality of pictures Hector and RogueScribe take but, with 4500 pictures available, statistically I have to be able to get a couple of good ones!!!

And I am going to actually take pictures this time. Not just carry my camera around in a kilt. No,.my camera is not in a kilt. GEEZ, you guys!!! I want to get pictures of of everyone. That way next year I won't have to start over with names  In the last 8 years we have met a several hundred wonderful people.  We know the names of about a hundred of you and if I take pictures and put a name with the pictures then we will be just a little more prepared next year.

We love you ALL...  as far as hidden agendas...  don't have any... don't want any... If I wanted Drama I'd work all weekend for the Florida Unemployment Compensation Offices... Divorce Trisha ... and live with my Ex-wife. (the Original Drama Queen!!!)  Ain't -a-gonna-happen!!!

Can't wait to see you all again!!!  Festival Withdrawal this weekend... but next weekend... watch out...

Just as I finished this I saw that John had unlocked the three locked topics... Hope this finds you out there...

I'm not a crazy b*it*ch. I'm someone who cares about this place and hates seeing it overrun by private interest groups.

Lairde, I appreciate what you are doing with your Clan, but when you are here you are also a member of RF, and I think you could be more thoughtful of that. Take the time to learn your fellow RF members names. You'd expect that of any RF member who joined your Clan and it's forum.

As for your not feeling welcome, I didn't mean to imply you weren't welcome to any RF events. I certainly don't consider myself any kind of spokesperson for this forum anyway...I'm more or less the rogue Mod and they don't like it much when I speak out... :D...but as the thread continued to bend toward Clan interest, complete with a very long list of McCracks...well I figured the thread should just be in the McCracks area of our forum and you all could take care of your business there.

Well anyway, in the end I guess I'm just not cut out for this job. I piss off more of you than I help, many of you are friends with people I wouldn't give the time of day and I just can't get through to you.. I've seen a side of faire that I wish I'd never seen and I miss the days when I thought all rennies and playtrons were fun loving happy people. I know much better now. Some of you are positively rotten!

...but if anyone cares, all in all it's been an interesting ride.  :)

I know that I said nothing wrong except for voicing my opinion.  Pretty sure this is America (although most Rennies seem to think "Socialism" is overriding that).  I know I have rights and can't tell them they're wrong for believing that because of that first amendment thing.  When the conversation police get pissy and lock a forum because their feelings are hurt than I think my rights have gone away.  I've been called a "crazy B*tch" before too.  You know what?  At that time it was completely acceptable and made me realize I wasn't as bad a*s as I thought I was.  Sometimes looking in the mirror to see who you are isn't quite enough and you need the "crazy B*tch" and "loser" comments to let all of those things come to light.

Purposely trying to rile someone up with ridiculous "they were supposed to be funny" "jokes" is asking for it.  Everything given here was deserved and SOMEONE needs to find that personal interest mirror to see who she really is.  Nope, not me, I've been there and I've changed ME...  The only person *I* can change.

Sorry to let you down, Steve-O, but there was a hidden agenda.   Buried deep within this thread, like a backwards masking message in an album from the 70s....was the intent to have a good time.    :-*

Right!   The final countdown begins!   If anyone has any questions, let her rip and let's get this sorted out by Friday night.

Yuk, I don't even want to BE in that race!   Well, it sounds like there's going to be enough yummy food that I can steer well clear of the haggis (and hopefully its smell) for the morning.     ;)

But if Lord Stephen Buchanan thinks he's going to kiss his wife after eating that, ha, he better have a bag of Tic Tacs in his sporran!        ;D

Have you ever noticed that when you're waiting for something tremendously fun, it takes ages to get there?  Like this past week seems like 2 years.  But when we're there, it will fly by so fast, we'll be thinking, "What happened?  Didn't we just get here?"

Anyway, for us, countdown to Florida:  4 days  Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, then Wednesday night, hello land of sunshine!
