I have been back and forth about if I should fly or not. It's a bit of a trip from Southeast Alabama to Tx. :/ But, then again (because I'm a glutton for punishment and anything 'old fashioned') I'm thinking about taking the train! Yes, it will be a several day trip, but I think it'll be fun and offer an interesting view of the country in the process. Granted, nothing is in stone yet and this is still in the planning stage, but I just wanted to know how everyone else planned on getting to RenDezvous this year.
Can't wait to see everyone this year!!
Well since I live near Houston, I'm driving up on Friday. But if I had the option to take a train I would soooo do that. I've been wanting to try that, even if I had no real destination.
I usually ride the dragons breath but for this weekend...since I'll be bringing champagne and orange juice and needing a cage...I mean a vehicle to block off an area so we can all have tasty treats and beverages together... I guess I'll be driving the silver-blue Toyota 4-Runner.
Look for the Scottish flag.
I am soooooo looking forward to this event.
I'm driving in from North Carolina, Lady Mikayla will fly into DFW where I'll pick her up. I'll get into Texas the weekend before Rendezvous, and drive back the weekend after. It'll give me some good time to catch up with old friends! :D
And eat LOTS and LOTS of Tex-Mex! 8)
Lady Dracolich, let me know if you do end up taking the train to Dallas.
I know we would be able to find someone to pick you up from the train station and bring you down to Waxahachie.
I so hope you can make it!

Oh yea.... good stuff!
We're flying to Dallas from Chicago (a 3 hour drive from our home in NW Illinois). We've driven to Florida before for BARF, and it was almost 2 solid days of driving each way, so we decided to fly to TX instead.

Very wise !
If I go it will likely be flying.
We'll be driving ... Central Florida to Texas. Two eight-hour days (approximately) on the way out. But we're spending a week and a half prior to RenDezvous on business in central Texas, and stopping for a day in New Orleans on the way back.
Where in Central Texas?
I'm heading down to Sand Diego and Austin.
New Braunfels and McKinney.
If I'm still unemployed (aka have the time off), I'll be hitching a ride with Avidd and we'll be making our way down from TN!

New Braunfels and McKinney.
Wow...those are pretty far apart.
I love going to New Braunfels in the summer.... ride the river and go to the water park.
McKinney...... hmmmm... there's an airport there that 2 of my friends keep their planes... that's about all I know about McKinney.

Far is relative. If you're coming from Florida, four hours (or so) apart is not that far. :)
In the state of Texas, 4 hours is around the corner... :D

Yep, Dallas is just 4 hours right down the road from Houston LOL. REALLY LONG ROAD!
I am hitching a ride with Var! Can't wait!

There is a whole row of Scottish flags in the FOF area. But they are all friendly. You could also look for the lone Spanish Imperial banner amidst all the Scots.
And the Gondor battle flag marking my carriage!
I'll be driving down from Denton (yay short drive!)...and I'm perfectly willing to pick up anyone from dallas or nearby that needs a ride down
Driving from Plano. Just a hop, skip and a jump from faire. ;D
Me....I'll be there when the rest of you folks arrive. I'll be driving in from Stephenville, TX with my best friend and my brother on friday afternoon.
I will try to sneak away to say hi but if I don't make it stop in at the tilt field and say hi on saturday!!
I'm flying in on Friday with Scotsman and his lovely wife.
Flying in Friday.
DFW airport, then driving down. Can't wait! Whoot.
I'll have a car, arriving around 2:00pm, and can give rides to the Waxahachie area, if needed. I'm staying at the Super 8

To be fair, we are flying AirTran ... I would hate to think I were in charge of the flying ... I plan to have 4 - 8 Bloody Mary's in me by touchdown!

I know i'm more than ready to get this party started!! WOOT! :D
The Lovely Lady Trinn and I will be driving the silver toaster up from San Antonio Friday night after I am off.
(Silver toaster AKA the Scion)
Some day I am so going to attach giant styrofoam bread slices to the top of that thing.
For us it is that "Just around the corner" 4ish hour drive.
*If I start hearing rum bottles opening I may be able to make that a 3 hour drive...*

Oh how I used to hate Fast Roping! I have a few REAL funny stories about that ... and the rope burns to prove it!

Nope ... don't miss that crap at all!
Yeah, swimming in full gear is near the top of my list of "things never to do again".
Visiting Central America/Middle East again are two more... then there are certain bugs, snakes and whole groups of people that are up there also.
Well, according to people that don't think well of me, I'll be riding my broom to RenDezvous LOL. But really, I'll be riding your.... ok, we're not even going there.
