Title: How would you dress a wizard for hot weather?
Post by: Merlin the Elder on May 19, 2010, 05:15:29 PM
I know there are a lot of garbing geniuses out there!  I'm hoping to be at Scarby for closing weekend, but it's going to be way too hot for my wizard gown, and I'm hoping to maintain my persona.  I have a pair of wrap pants and a nice shirt from House of Dra.

Any suggestions as to what I could add to maintain my wizardness?

Why not make a set of light weight white linen wizard robes?

Excellent idea... But I wouldn't have time to get that together by Memorial Day weekend.  If we do get to come down to Scarby, I may have to forgo my normal persona... perhaps, incognito as a pirate!  But the white linen sounds great for next year!

It would only take about 5 hours to make, you know.  No need for hems, even: just tun the raw edges to the outside and cover with braid!  Bit like this, but adult sized and white:

Thank you, Lady Kathleen. The long, gray beard really helps to make the character. Luckily, I haven't gotten any flak about it on campus (although I do get some funny looks on occasion).

How about a middle Eastern wizard look?  You can wear the stuff from house of Dra and add a turbin or head wrap, rope sandals, and a bag with magical symbols.

Now, there's a great, quick, easy solution to my conundrum, DragonGirl! Lady Kathleen has provided me with a possible long-term solution.  For any given weekend, it's nice to have more than one option in order to handle changes in weather. Thanks so much for the super ideas!

"Oh, wardrobe?!"  :D

No Problem.  Just post a picture of your hot weather wizard!
