Title: How much trim?
Post by: gem on May 22, 2010, 04:21:02 PM
I want to use the trim configuration shown below (in black), but I'm not sure how much that will take (I mean, general ballpark number; obviously it will vary by size!). These trim placement diagrams are from the Margo Anderson Elizabethan pattern, but I can't find any information on how much yardage to buy. Anyone have a ballpark figure? Ten yards? Fifteen? More? Less?

Gramercy!!

I would measure on the pattern if I were you and then go 2 or 3 yards over. At least thats what I would do

I used 10 yards for my fantasy  forest garb that you saw and had very little left over. I wish I had more
to trim out the bodice.

When in doubt, estimate 5 yards more. That way, there is some left over for additional accessories.

The Gowns I have done for clients take 15 to 20 yards. Factor in trim for Sleeves, shoulder and waist treatments, etc. For it's the trim that makes a Noble Gown...NOBLE!!!

I have down a similar trim setup. You need at least 4 yards plus the circumference of your skirt. Measure it out so you won't be sorry when you come up 6 inches short.
