Post by: Lady Anna on May 24, 2010, 03:51:10 PM
Thought I'd share my pics from Imagicon 2010. I enterd the costume contest as a 1890's entomologist and won for best historic costume! I am so happy I could burst!  ;D Just had to share. Thanks to everyone on here, you all so great at helping all of us flegelings out when we get stuck, have questions etc.

Tell us more about this! Did you use a pattern, what are all the pieces, etc, etc.

Gem-

First, thanks for posting the pic on the page. I can never figure out how to do that. :) I used the laughing moon womens sporting pattern for 1890's. I also tweaked it a bit because my insperation came form the Taschen book fashion a history from the 18th to the 20th century. There's a wonderful pic of a bycicling outfit that I loved.

My charater is an entomologist. I have a steampunk pin on the lapel (a dragon fly) and on the hat (a beetle with gears and clock hands). My gun is a replica (steampunked up ofcourse) of a late victorian bug sprayer. I am also carring a minors lamp (to see in caves) and my case is my field kit (mag glass, sketch book, pen & ink etc). I used velvet for the hat and trimmed it out in the same fabric as the double breasted coat (the fabric I got at hancocks, onsale). The pants are just heavy weight linen. Hope that answers all the questions. Thanks again for the comments!
I am very proud of this.

Awesomeness!

And you should be able to easily turn your link into a picture. If you're able to edit your posts, do that, and then add the following image "tags" before and after the URL with no spaces:

I happen to have that very Laughing Moon pattern! Fantastic look, Lady Anna!!  Congratulations!!!

One cannot get Steampunk WRONG!!

The new Museum Replicas catalog has Steampunk accessories. I am planning to order Goggles, a watch, and a few things to add to my Williemina Wonka character.

Great look Lady Anna, and congrats also.

For some fun Steam punk extras, I met this guy at Spoutwood Fairie Festival.
Paul Hersey who owns Organic Armor. His pieces look like metal or leather and they are not and very light weight.
