greetings dear friends,
so, we are engaging on a monumental task that will seek the aid and assistance of friends of sherwood.
it's george and my intentions to eventually make sherwood as authentic to a medieval setting as is reasonably possible.
we have sought the assistance of an earth builder, nick, to work with us on building structures using wattle and daub construction methods.
the morning of the gathering on july 24th--next saturday--we will construct a gaol (jail) and the backdrop for the new mud show. eventually, we will move to the faire camp grounds and begin construction of our first hostel (which will be occupied this year by the ever-growing appling-o'leary family).
this saturday, we will be gathering in the morning to collect the sticks and sapplings to weave together as the foundation of the walls.
then next saturday, we get to play in the mud daubing the sand, clay and straw into the wooden weave.
we need some eight to ten folk to assist us from about 9am-1pm.
hope to see yall out there. we will have pizza after the work is done.
