It may be of minor interest to note that the renewal of vows is at the same time as Court of Love ... coincidence? Or conspiracy? Hmmmmmmm!

That is interesting.  We were given a window of opportunity and after discussions with Capt Fletcher Moone that was the time he requested.

Does that mean that court of love is being moved to the labrynth that day? I think that would be a very interesting court of love quite frankly... at least I won't get charged with anything if that's the case.

hm. I was planning to bring my folks up on charges (though I haven't got the phrasing quite right yet) at the court of love since the 14th will be their 33rd anniversary. But I don't want to step on any toes.

You can always vary the wording a little bit and bring them up at the Court of Common Pleas at 3:30.  You can even give the truth as an excuse for not bringing it up at the Court of Courtly Love (or say that men always lose at that court, or describe that as the criminal suit and this as the civil suit).  Find someone in the village to help you, and if they don't have a specific appointment at that time, they'll be glad to help you.

Lady Kathleen of Olmstead is making me an Irish dress.  It is hunter green and will have a saffron underskirt.  Do the colors sound familiar?  I will have Tim post a picture when he gets home.

Tim will be wearing a Saffron kilt.  Not sure about the shirt.

Braeden will be in a kilt and Syd will be in her blue dress that she always wears.

I can't wait to see you.  Sorry we missed you last weekend.

Good. The Clan should be exercising Saffron Saturday and I will ensure I am in my Hunter green Jacobite. We will look like quite the crew I suppose.

I just need to stay sober past 1:30 ... that is going to be a huge stretch!

I believe the Captain chose the Court of Love slot so that he would be otherwise engaged and not ABLE to be brought up on charges....

(well, okay, really, between his pub shows and managing the scripted scenes, he only has so many windows...)

Court of Love will still be in Nobles Glade...to keep Tim safe from judgement!

Whoa Lass ... lets not get too hasty, we need to evaluate the situation! Upon further review, maybe a little libation would not be such a bad thing ... because of the heat you know. Plus it is my little way of stimulating the local economy. I always try to do my part.

Lady Jai - you know my beloved and I will be there! We wouldn't miss it for the world!!

I'll be in my black gown as my green gown met with an unfortunate mishap.........so it's completely destroyed  >:(

However I'll make sure Dallas wears his saffron shirt with his kilt for sure!

Glad I looked at this thread so I can tell him about the saffron thing  :)

Uhhh...........yeah. Something like that.

Let's just say the "velvet" wasn't really velvet. It was some sort of polyester backing with the "velvet" GLUED on. So when they tried to clean it the "velvet" just started peeling off in sheets. It's a wreck. I cannot believe someone would take all that time to make that gown - using a dry cleanable brocade to boot - and use such substandard material for the rest. Unbelievable. But yeah - it's ruined and irretrievably lost unless I take it apart and replace all the velvet - which is basically the whole gown.

Incidentally the brocade is just fine so I may just go out and buy some green velvet and try my hand at remaking it. I'm sure I can do the skirt, it's the bodice I'm a little iffy on. That will be a real challenge. I might be able to do it if I take a pattern off the old one. The only thing is I'll have to figure out where I can have the grommets put back into the bodice as I have NO idea where to to take it to get that sort of thing done.

So yeah..........it's toast.

A shoe repair shop can help you with the grommetts.  I would take in the specific ones you want used.  There are hand ones you can get at a fabric store however I would just take it in to the shoe cobbler.

Title: Re: Renewal of Vows Invite

I don't know of any "real" shoe repair shops around where I live. I guess I'll have to search for one somewhere.

I think I can get the proper sized grommets at JoAnn's though I agree I think I'd rather have them professionally done.

OK - back on topic now!!! LOL!

I cannot wait for this vow renewal!! I have been SOOO jonesing for faire but have been unable to go. Now I'm healed up (mostly) and more than ready to go Faire-ing!! What better day to go back to faire but for my dear friends' wedding vow renewal!!

Just might take you up on that Milady  ;)

Well - I got out the black gown today. Did some spot cleaning on it (basically scrubbing/shaking out the North Carolina mud that was all around the hem from Guard'n and Peddl'n's wedding in April - I'm scared to take it to the cleaners now). Washed up my Medieval Moccassins - they are drying in the garage with tissue paper in them..........so I think I'm ready for the M'Crack invasion folks!!

Good move Lady de la Warr after my experience with black velvet at the dry cleaners, I will be cleaning the velvet garb in same manner, spot cleaning, shaking, repeat.  A garb maker at the Loch Norman Highland Games suggested Dryel, eventually I'm gonna grab some velvet, run it through with Dryel BEFORE it's made into something beautiful to test the fabric.

Dryel - what a great idea! I even have some.

I'll have to try it on something non-critical. Like maybe my purse. It's velvet.........and black.

Hmmmm....................

Thanks ladies!

Incidentally, the gown looks beautiful again. I managed to get all the dried mud out of the hem - and went over the bodice lightly with a damp cloth both with and against the nap. Fluffed it up some and got all the "lines" out of it. So it looks great  - I think I'm ready for next Saturday!

Master James - you are awesome my friend!!

I am going to try to have the dress done for July 4th weekend - so I may have to make a trip out to see you for this. I'm going to GLMF for the 4th weekend - and I am down to only one gown - which will NEVER do in the heat (ewww gross).

I have fabric swatches on the way as we speak - I may even have them for Saturday so you all can help me choose. Once I make the choice I'll have the fabric either overnighted or priority mailed (I cannot find what I want locally) so I can get busy and get it done

So if I can have this bodice done in time do you think we can take care of it in time?

The Renewal of Vows was very lovely, and ummm funny.  It reminded me of my wedding.  Thanks Jamie and Tim for asking me to be part of your moment.

The whole day was SMOKIN' HOT (LITERALLY), but in spite of the heat, the ceremony was beautiful, and we felt honored to be included. Best wishes to you both.

Thanks, guys.

We really do appreciate all of you coming to join in our renewal.  It was one of the most memorable things we have done at faire.  How great is it to share a wonderful event surrounded by so many friends?  We are humbled by your well wishes.  What a wonderful faire family we have!

Captain Fletcher Moone did a fantastic job, many thanks to him.  Those cakes were good too!

We enjoyed the one day anniversary of our reception as well! :D

I'll get some pictures linked up as soon as I get them uploaded.

Tim and Lady Jai,
That was a beautiful ceremony i'm glad I got there when I did though cause I thought after I had rushed to get up there that I had missed about half the ceremony.Thankfully Master James took a huge chip off my shoulder when he told me that it had just started so YAY I got to see it all.The whole nine yards  ;D

Three hearty Huzzah's to the happy couple
Hip Hip huzzah
Hip Hip huzzah
Hip Hip huzzah
God save Tim and Lady Jai
And my god be with you two through the many more years of happiness that you will share for the rest of your life.

It was great guys and I'm so glad it was a good day for you.  Fletcher did a great job as usual and the whole thing was just fantastic.  Congrats to you both!  I only wish I could have spent more time hanging out and less time being cast that weekend.  See you guys soon!
