Debating fooling with that tailed bodice... Not such a big fan of patterns, fragile paper, squiggly little lines.... most of the time I just kinda... wing it. lol...
I actually bought that pattern recently, but I haven't used it yet. If you do decide to use it let us know how it went, please!
There are some reviews (http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?search=search&patternid=18478&CompanyID=45&PatternNumber=3677) of it on PatternReview, if that helps.. (sorry if that's obvious.. I don't know if you've already read those or not.)
Sorry I havent decided if I want to buy that one yet or not. I'm thinking about it just for the female pirate jacket. But please do let us know if you use it and how it turns out.
I made the pants. It's not good for pants, but it would make an excellent bloomer pattern - super baggy in the crotch. I had to take it in at least 5" for them to fit like actual pants. But they turned out super cute!
I bought this pattern when it was $1 somewhere, but have yet to use it...I've seen it made tho and the tailed bodice it the one part that looked like it turned out really well. The pants were ill fitting and she was wearing a chemise she already had due to time contraints...She said it was kind of a hassle to get the tails to lie right. But in my opinion it was definitely worth it
I made the tailed bodice last year. I even did a review of it on pattern review.com .

My big thing was that the bodice has a dart in it. That when it says baste something in place, they mean it. You will have a lot of scaps left over because of how the skirt pieces have to be cut out. Lastly, keep in mind, this bodice is for show, not support. It will hold you but not like a really good bodice. My actress wore a bra with it for extra support.
Hope that helps.
I was starting that bodice too... Well sort of. I'm using my standard pattern for my front lacer and I planned on using the pattern for the skirt piece only. Just attaching the skirt to the bottom of my bodice. I'm thinking that should work but I've never looked at the pattern that closely, as I'm not that far yet.
I don't think I'm crazy... LadyStitch??
I think it would be cute. How they get that nice tucked up looks is by using plastic rings. Basically you turn your skirt into a roman shade. ;D
If I remember correctly they have you attach the skirt to the bodice, and then cover the seam with single fold bias tape.
Attached and then single fold bias tape. Oh... Interesting!
Thanks LadyStitch!!!!
Your welcome. :) It is what other's have done for me. :)

That's actually a little bit of what I was thinking, I was thinking about drafting one and then found the pattern and my visual brain was like... do it. Well, It'll give me something to do the week before faire :)
I used the skirt and pant pattern for this

I used my normal bodice pattern with steel boning, and just attached the skirt, sewing it to the outside fabric, tucking the seam up inside, and hand stitching the bodice lining to the skirt. The skirt ended up being too thick to gather with sewing machine thread, so I just basted some button thread through it and pulled. I also used brass rings and silk ribbon for the ties, since they are pretty visible and the plastic ones just looked cheesy.
love it :)
Have anyone used THIS pattern?

Simplicity 2405. Not a historical dress, but a pattern I need to get a hold on ASAP. But it's out of print, so I'm looking f or someone who got it. Eventually, do you know of a similar pattern from other brands (Vogue, McCalls etc)?

this one's real close,
Ooooh, thanks a bunch, people! These links are great.
I noticed it was on eBay as well. Problem is that I need it ASAP, for my boss, before this weekend. I emailed the seller and asked for a "but it now" option, but haven't gotten any replies. So I have to find a similar one, hopefully one of the sewing shops in Oslo will have one of these in store.
But again, thanks a bunch!
It looks like a really basic dress; I think you would have no trouble recreating it without a pattern. It's just a halter neckline, an Empire waist with a band, and a full-length bias-cut skirt. If you even just found a halter top pattern you should be able to make up the rest.

It's not for me, it's for my boss... I never work with patterns, but my job is to find her the one in my original post or something similar. :)
