"The first images from the set of Paul W.S. Andersons The Three Musketeers have leaked online. The set photos offer us our first look at Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as the villain Rochefort and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) as hero/aspiring musketeer DArtagnan. As youll see from the images, Anderson isnt pushing any boundaries when it comes to the costumes. On the plus side, Mikkelsen looks like even more of a badass when wearing an eyepatch.
The film also stars Milla Jovovich, Christoph Waltz, Orlando Bloom, Matthew Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Juno Temple, and Luke Evans. Hit the jump to check out the images. The Three Musketeers is set to open in 3D on April 15, 2011."

wow that looks awesome!
It looks good but I can not imagine how they can make a better movie that the 70's version with Michael York and Oliver Reid. Those two movies (Three Musketeers, Four Musketeers) were the closest to the book of any made, in my opinion.

Agreed! Those are great movies and always a pleasure to watch.

Yeah, I love those movies too. I'm willing to give this version a shot, but I can't help thinking that it will turn out to be another of those angsty, dark stories so popular now.
I love the pretty dresses, fun situations and sense of adventure that the older movies have.
Seems there isn't a remake out there that isn't trying to put a strange or depressing spin on a good story.
Think the latest version of Robin Hood-almost 3 hours of "WTF!"
I don't agree. The new Robin Hood was awesome.
I strongly disliked the 70's versions but really enjoyed the 1993 version. Can't imagine what 3D is going to do for the story, I hope they don't load it up with a bunch of "made for 3D" shots and neglect the plot!
"Why a spoon cousin? Why not an axe?"
"Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more. Now SEW, and keep the stitches small!"
Looks good, but as others have said, there have been some very good movies made of this story already. Hard to see what new thing can be interjected. I'd see it, cuz I am a sucker for any period movie.
The Robin Hood with Russel Crow? Like the man says "Eh, not so much". I love Crow in most anything, but this. Didn't do well in the boxoffice either, and I know a few entities out there that were counting on this film being the next "Pirates of the Caribean".

To me, it was just 'Gladiator 2' with costumes stolen from Kingdom of Heaven.
I hope the 3 Musketeers movie turns out good, but we'll just have to wait and see. Nice pictures, though
The stills so far look good. I hope they keep it to the proper lines and not veer off. Here is another link to look at -

Sweet! Bloom makes peacock blue look good :D I must have spent 20 minutes studying the Jewelry alone. I wish there were more pics of the ladies' costumes. (sans those nasty cigarettes).
mmmm yummy
Bonjour All!
Did someone say a New Musketeer movie?????? YESSS LOL ya I'm a sucker for musketeer movies but I will agree with most I hope they don't go far off like they did with the Disney version, love that movie it was a fun movie :-). Oh I'm going to see this movie no matter what lol
OH MY!!!! I will have to see this film and oogle over the costumes!!!!
Period Costume overload!!!!! :o :o
I have several clients who love this period for clothing! I will be getting emails about this one!!!
Should be out OCTOBER 14, 2011 in theaters.
Here's the IMDB entry for it:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1509767/
"The hot-headed young D'Artagnan along with three former legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war."
I agree with Noble Dreg, but most likely for different reasons, the 70's versions were not my favorite. I did not like the swordfighting. I thought it was to cut-hack-slash and cape throwing. I grew up on Cyrano(Jose Ferrer), the duel in rhyme,
now that was a swordfight, elegant, poetic movement. I am hoping Hollywood gets back to doing that kind of swordfight instead of striving for historical accuracy. The fight between Capn Jack and Barbarossa was good also. Now for the costumes. HOLY GARB BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just looking at the stills again..That man does not have a 'bad side'. *sigh*
Amen to that!
Looks like I need to start convincing my sister to watch the kiddo so I can go catch it while its in theaters!
Looks interesting.:)
Did you see the size of the buckles on his boots- dang.
QuoteThat man does not have a 'bad side'. *sigh*
-Amen to that sister hehe
...I am guessing I am the only one upset that Orlando Bloom is in it?
He always just comes off as an annoying, confused, giant teenage boy to me. :-\
On the 3D most of 3D now isnt things popping off the screen at you (did anyone really like that?) but they have been being used to give depth to the images. So, theoretically, there shouldn't be many, if any, made for 3D scenes.
The costumes look absolutely amazing though.
Uh...I just watched the preview for this. They are trying to stop the apocalypse and they're doing like ninja jumps from building to building and the one lady is sliding down a hallway on her knees like mission impossible as fire shoots out of these holes in a wall oh and there was a flying ship too.. :o
Would this count as "veering off" from the original story line
Here's the trailer.I am so VERY sorry.

Here's the one from IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2901843225/
What I want to know is what's w/all the Crouching Tiger type movements? lol And 3d?! No...period pieces should NOT be in 3d! Other than that, I look forward to it!
The Cast lineup for this film is a good one. I will be in Costume Overload! This will definitely be nominated for Costume Design Oscar.Maybe other categories as well.
Orlando Bloom
Mathew McFaydden
Ray Stevenson
Mads Mikelsosn(He and Stevenson were in 'King Arthur' together)
Christoph Waltz
Logan Lerhman
As far as Ridley Scott's ROBIN HOOD with Russell Crowe, the film stands on its own merits in that it dealt with the man behind the legend. I love Ridley's attention to detail. There were a number of actors in RH that were also in KoH. Directors like to reuse the same actors in a lot of their films because of their versatility to play a character. Thus, Character Actor comes to mind.
If I recall at the end of 'Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves' with Kevin Costner, his name was Robin Longstride. But King Richard the Lionheart did not return to England like at the end of that film, because Richard died by an arrow in the neck while storming a French castle to get money back he spent on his 10 year Crusade.

Now that I have though, it's gonna be a must see!
