Like most of you, I have many pictures from various faires over the years. Post one single picture that defines faire for you. You can only post one picture per reply, but you can reply as often as you like.
I'll start with this one:

I think this one catches the mood pretty good. From MMRF:

Certain people catch the mood pretty damn good too.

This is my pennultimate Sherwood picture from last year- some were better, less grainy, more in focus, but it was closing weekend, this nymph was dancing around the Circa Paleo stage, and lemmie tell you- she was amazing. The Spirit of Sherwood right there!

For Scarby, it would HAVE to be Twig!!
Probably this one. It's probably my favorite shot that I've taken from the past few years of shooting Faire.

Actually... that may be my favorite Faire shot, as well. I've seen so many wonderful photos of the myriad faces of Faire, but none had ever moved me to poetry before...
Thanks, Rani. 'Twas also the first time poetry had been written about one of my photos. :)
Just the simple truth. The moment I saw it... a tale seemed to unfold, and I needed scarce more urging than a word to pick up the pen. :-[ ::) I'm just happy to have had the inspiration... There have been very few things that have moved me to write in the last couple of years, and this is one of my very favorite.

I'll have to agree this is a favorite shot for me in several ways too. It's a cool shot but it also tells a story all on it's own.

Not only do I love that shot, but it reinforces that I really, REALLY need to give the Mid-Michigan Faire a go this year.

Lovely picture, Angus. It looks like your wife was having a wonderful day at Faire. :)
Where was this shot taken?
Scarborough Faire in Crown Meadow. Just behind and to the left across the road is the armory where the Scots gather. It incorporates more things about fair than I have time to explain right now. Thanks for asking lass.

Sir Eric in our guild has a fun gig where he 'recruits' kids at faire to become his squire. In order to become a squire, they must past some "tests", one of which is that you need to be able to drag the fallen soldier off the field. As you can imagine, it's always a funny scene when some kid is trying to drag a 6'5" guy in full armor where he tops out at well over 300lbs.
Nothing says faire more than a Scots lead parade.

This picture is my reminder of some of the most wonderful, kind, caring, fun-loving, authentic people I've ever met at faire. It is this group that has made me so thankful to RF for bringing us together and putting them in my life. There's more, of course, but this photo has the biggest group of dear friends together, all of us at faire having a great time.

Yup, I have 2. ;)
Well, you know, how could I not post a picture of my dear wildthingjew and wonderful Miss Katie Scarlet? They weren't in the other picture, and here they are now:
So now I have 3. But who's counting? ;D (if it's you, you shouldn't be! This girl just wants to have fun).
Danny and Curtis trying to kill each other... After Dan's kilt fell, Curt ended up in the hospital! ::)

And then there's Shannen- she was severely injured a few years ago, and still won't miss faire, regardless of how hard things are for her, and her attitude is always just bubbly- a real joy to be around!

And then there's the tent malfunction inspired "OH!! GodDANGIT!!" look!

Here's one from KCRF '10 opening weekend that I think catches the faire magic pretty well.
This was Scarborough Faire '09, the first "real" (read; permanent site) Faire I had ever been to, and it was just a few short weeks after I finished 6 months of chemotherapy. Even though this picture doesn't have any of the people I spent most of my time with during that trip, it still is the only one of me that captures the fun and the laughter I experienced all during that wonderful weekend! This was taken by EloquentXI, and will always be one of my very favorite photos, ever...

Anyone else? There has to be more faire photos out there than this! :)
As soon as I heard all the great music on my first visit to a Ren Faire (Scarborough Faire, 1995), I was hooked on being there, and coming back for more!
This photo is of the Scarborough Madrigals (plus Miguel - Red Feathers! :D ) singing just after the Gates opened one Saturday morning in 1996.

That is one of my favourite spots at Scarby as well... You don't want to get into that vegetation, though, it's mostly Poison Ivy! You can just about make out the leaves in the foreground. I
do wish Scarborough had a little more tree cover, especially on the south end.

One of my friends who refuses to come back to Scarby, calls the area with out much tree cover "Radiation Field". He refuses to come back to Scarby until there is more places to sit (There are already much more than there use to be) and that area has tree cover. I told him he may have quite a few years to wait for that to happen. ::)

Is it not on photobucket or something?
no i have not gotten into photo bucket. the last thing I need is another site that I have to establish an account with an id and password. Most of the sites I deal with have an attachment area to directly add jpegs to.
As per your request here is your photo, Blakduke.

Dang! I'm in the wrong line of work!
I love my work, it's a tiring job but someone has to do it,
plus someone has to give these poor deformed girls gainfull employment
no one will hire them because of that.
Yeah...deformed....check out those big bumps...
exactly. Think of the terrible lives they would be forced to endure if we did not hire them and pay attention to them. Their delicate psyches would be permanently damaged. I consider it humanitarian work.
These pictures were taken by Tiger Lee, it's really the best representation of me.
