Just a heads up. Iris & Rose have announced that they will NOT be at the Sea Devil but will be at the Polish stage near the Falconer's stage.
well, that's unexpected... ???
Yeah, even farther from my booth. In front of the POW to the Polish area is a looong walk.
anyone know why?
I heard about it on their FB page, No explanation as yet though. The change is not on the schedule on the TRF webpage, so who knows who else has been shifted around?
Is the Polish stage a fully stocked pub like the Sea Devil?
Happy if Iris and Rose move! The Sea Devil is way too smokey for me to sit at for long. I have missed seeing Iris and Rose! Maybe I can catch a few shows if they move! Huzzah!
Not sure where the Polish stage is? I know where the Polish food booth is.
A little newish info;
If you look here; http://www.texrenfest.com/entertainment.html , and hit "Schedule Guide" at the bottom of the page, it opens a new schedule that lists them as playing the "Polish Pub", but it does not look like it's on the map.
I hope the "Polish Pub" is as well stocked as the Sea Devil, my wife will be peeved if she can't drink a Sweet b*tch at the Iris & Rose show!
On the good side, I can see them, Circa Paleo, and Cast in Bronze without humping from one side of the faire to the other! About the only negative I see is that the 'Polish area' is pretty much in what I've always thought of as part of the kids section, wonder how that will work ?

No not really...their regulars have complained for years that the smoke and the noise of the Sea Devil makes it difficult to really enjoy the show. But at least they are coming back which they almost didn't do.

Just goes to show how your milage may vary, The wife and I are pretty 'regular' I&R fans, but we've never thought that about the Sea Devil! But I'm glad the issue didn't have to come to them not playing at all!
The noise was truly godawful at the Sea Devil, to the point where I'd pop in for a song or two & leave (of course, leaving a little something in their basket) because you couldn't hear over the din. However, the Polish area is in the very back of the grounds (as I recall) which is going to make it really difficult as I have arthritis mobility issues.
if it's teh area I'm thinking of, I also wonder what the seating is like- surely they added seats there?
I hope the sound setup is better. I can never understand atleast half of what is said. I hear it but just can't understand what was said.
I know the sound guy. I'll nag him for you.
Thanks! ;D

Wow ... I heard
The Bilge Pumps would not be back this year (with the possible exception of Pirate weekend), but I didn't know
The Other Brothers were not returning. As always, we have a few changes in the air for the new season.
I wonder if the Polish stage is a new stage. The Pink Pirate and I love to go have food there but there is never enough seating. I know there was a stage where The Insulter would perform which was nice. I always felt bad because I would go to the sea devil to watch Iris and Rose but we never could get a good seat because of the talking of all the over drunk people. Granted what else are you going to find in a pub. :) As long as their is booze near by they should be good. :)
I wonder if this is where the Taverna DiVino used to be. It would make a lovely spot for them.
Edit: I just checked the website and it looksl like it is NOT where the Taverna used to be. That is now called the Falconers Inn. Ah well.
FEAR NOT! I was out working on my booth this morning & drove by the NEW PUB. Covered seating, ceiling fans, lights, all the good stuff. Looks like it will be finished well before first cannon. It's close by the Polish food booth on the opposite side from the Falconry going toward the Magic Cauldron.
Oh and Sound Guy promised he and his crew would do the new place proud.

Yay!!!! Thank you and could you tell the sound guys thank you too!
WOOOT! sounds like that's got the Sea Devil licked... I think we'll be heading back there first...

Thanks for the update, Ravic. Quality sound, covered seating and ceiling fans and sounds like a recipe for success!
I know where I will be at the close of each day now
*sipping rum and watching the train wreck! thats the good life for Teach*
Thanks Ravic! That does sound wondrous! Huzzah!
This is outstanding news - I've always hated trying to listen to them in the Sea Devil. Seems every time you get a huge bunch on one half of the pub telling the other half to keep it down - In Unison.
And a mug can always be filled on the way to the show.
This may be the fist year that I actually sit through an entire set of I&R at TRF. Never had any issues at Scarby - For the record (o:
No need to fill on the run. They're building a Pub next to the new stage.

Pics? Maybe? Possibly? Could be? Pweese?? *insert puppy dog eyes here*
Soon luv, soon. I took a coupla pics. I'll post them A). as soon as I can figure out how and B). free up the time.
Woot!
Will be a mighty long stumble back to the campgrounds after the train wreck, but if I'll be able to hear the entire show it will be well worth it.
My thoughts exactly. I've listened to entire sets at Scarby - but its always been too frustrating at TRF.

heya ravic - if you've the desire to share (and the time to take em and post them), i'd love to post photos of the new stage to Iris & Rose's FB page to help people find them... i've an email address at the fnord*dot*org domain, and i'm squeak. :)
Squeak!?! How are you girl? Haven't talked to you since the old AFR days. Saw you on the street at Mardi Gras a few years back.
I'll try to post what I have later tonight.
Finally had a day without the kids. Got to see Iris and Rose at the new pub. If you haven't been yet go now! Great show and a great new venue.
especially the train wreck show
it is great
I have seen their show 3 times this year - my advice - get there a bit early if you want to sit and watch! The shows have all been Standing Room only. The new venue is great but still not large enough to house all their fans.
A Toast . . .
