Well, tomorrow is *supposed* to be the debut of the Much Ado garb! And everything is finished, except...
My buttonholer totally balked at doing the buttons on the Beatrice bodice!! For some reason, it did absolutely fine on my sample swatch (exact same layers as the bodice itself), but it keeps making the real ones way too small, or getting snagged on something, or... Ugh. Hours of trying different things over two days have proved that it's hopeless to go this route (on the upside, it did *brilliantly* on the two men's vests!).
So. Milord's parents arrive this evening, and Milord's mum is going to help me make them either by hand or machine (she can do both). I understand the steps to manual machine buttonholes, but I can't actually do them. For whatever reason, mine always turn out dreadful. I mean, not even rectangular. Remotely. LOL
They're bringing backup garb just in case we can't manage this, but what a shame if we got this close only to run into trouble on the very last step on the very last garb.
Anyway. Wish us luck, because we're going to need it! Eight buttonholes to go!
All else fails, safety pin it underneath and quick stitch the button on top. ;)
That'd have to be a pretty hefty safety pin! LOL
But... clasps would work. I have a pack of skirt hooks. You know, I might just do that, and save MIL the work. Thanks for the idea!!!
Pictures pf all of you please!
You have to brag a bit after working so hard to make all of you guys look fabulos!
Have fun!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck and have fun. and yes, pictures please.
