Title: Need help looking for a long (length wise) doublet..
Post by: JJames on September 20, 2010, 01:32:08 PM
Hello everyone! I'll get right to the point for I know many have limited time; I am looking for a long doublet, or maybe a tunic; Im not sure what to call it as many online stores use the terms; doublet, tunic, jerkin, etc. too interchangeably. I know there is a specific difference between them all. What I am trying to get away from are the doublets, vests, etc, or garments that stop right at the waist.

Here is kind of what Im looking for;
This one is probably more fo what I am "almost" looking for. The only thing I don't like about this particular shirt is that the sleeves only come in two colors (gold and silver), and it may be just a tad shorter than I would prefer.

This one I like, however, for me, it may be too royal or noble for my preference. But I like the length and style.

I have a shirt and vest,  however, the vest is waist length and I don't like that. I currently have a pair of House of Andar black boots, hosen, and a leather beret w/ grn trim that I would like to use. I  have a blk ring belt but I think I would like to upgrade my belt too.
I was thinking about one of these two, however, I thought if there were other options or another place w/ something similar I may have missed, I figured this would be the place to check first. So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to do so!

Many of you have given me great advice, and I really appreciate and respect all the help I have received from this site! Many thanks and for the future thanks again!

James

The reason doublets stop at the natural waist is that that's where they stopped historically (particularly if you're talking about the English/Spanish/French High Renaissance when most fairs are set).

But... there are non H/A options, and here are some links to get you started:

Here is another one as well. They seem to ship rather quickly. I have ordered a couple of things from them.
