Title: Eyes
Post by: sitarserpent on September 24, 2010, 08:20:34 PM
I know I already started a similar topic in the Crafting Corner, but I really could use same help. I'm looking for inexpensive but realistic artificial eyes, possibly taxidermy-style, that eye can attach to a mask I'm making. I'm trying to match my own eyes, which are very pale green. Any ideas?

This will probably sound like a dumb question (but what the heck...) do you mean artificial people type eyes or animal type eyes (like taxidermy)? My Google-Fu needs additional parameters to work with since I really have no earthly idea, but am willing to spend a few minutes seeing (pun intended) what I can find!

Van Dykes in SD has glass eyes for taxidermy.

DH bought a bunch of (humanoid) glass eyes from a Chinese seller on ebay. They were only "a couple of bucks for a whole bunch," he tells me. If you really want,  he's willing to track down the link again.

Hahaha...  :D I thought this would be a search for eyelets as well!

Here's another site for you: I'm getting kind of a kick from the delightfully "ghoulish" names of these sites. "Shop for Eyes" Hahaha....

Looking forward to seeing what you make. Sounds really interesting and different.  :)

I was just wandering through Ebay's Halloween pages and found this:

You have to buy all the pairs shown, but heck, at 99cents and Buy it Now...can't beat the price. Around 5 buck for shipping and still cheap enough. About 1 inch wide.

van dyke's makes beautiful eyes, but i'm afraid they're above my budget... also forgot to mention i'd prefer eyes with no whites, just the iris and pupil

http://dreamingtreestudio.com/ (http://dreamingtreestudio.com/) makes many colors both natural and supernatural in iris only designs.  She usually has sales in her Etsy store to boot; I would discuss pricing with her and see if she could cut a deal with you if they are outside of your budget.  It never hurts to ask.
