Please keep in mind that in the off season, there has been an epic inundation of ants. Please remember to rake your site, as well as spread loads of ant killer. Also, there have been sightings of snakes in participants camp, as well as some areas with ticks. The mosquitoes have been like small birds of prey, as well. Protect yourself!!!
SWEET! You're always full of good news, Blue! >:(
Thanks for the Snake Alert! Yikes! :o
THIS is why I camp at hotels! But you're a doll for pointing it out for the campers Blue! Can't wait to see you again! :)
And the Gnats are really bitey this year too!
Citronella candles...bug spray...and snake choppin machete...CHECK!!! Thanks Blue! ;)
Snakes are shy once people start to show up they will head for quiter country real fast. Does sound like I need to mix up some garlic oringe oil spray to th ants, nats, and skiters
Grass rake, check.
Large bag of fire ant killer and a spreader, check.
Mosquito spray, check.
Root beer loki and vanilla ice cream, check.
Sister to see what her crazy Brother loves, check.
Yep, ready for opening weekend.

These work like a champ. We do need more ant killer though.
Thank you for the reminder Blue!! JP usually handles that stuff and I am so busy trying to think of other things that I would have completely forgotten protection against buggies and whatnots!
Wasps are especially bad out there this year. The big red ones & the black-reds.
Well hopefully now that we are seeing some cooler weather the buggers will start going dormant soon! Especially the wasps!
Lets hope so - But I picked up some outdoor foggers just in case. I know our arbors are generally nets for bees. This year they're gonna get fogged
...
Bees try to steal your mead.
Ok JP - I won't kill the bees - But the ants are faire game (o:
SNAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
*that's it... were not coming*
Been camping out there for five years now and have yet to see a snake - As someone posted earlier, there will be way too much noise and commotion for any snake to want to be around. Plus, it will be too cold at night.
I've got this nest of copperheads... i mean if someone REALLY wants snakes out there... just tell me which clan you're with and i'll drop some off. ;D
*as i drive by* :D

Nope, McLot, i think... She's on our list of members. As Member liason, i feel that i should bring some since everyone is looking for them. Do you think that 20 or so would do?

Oh, at least. Don't you Muffin? What color is your tent?
I would save me the gasoline when i would normally flambie them... i believe in spreading the love around. For extra sh*ts and giggles, i could smack the bag around a bunch... you know, making them fiesty. ;D
*on second thought, we ARE having that chili cook off...*
Nope you're both wrong! Not camping with McLot or McShug..
and believe me if there is a snake spotted I will be out of the campground quicker than you can blink an eye, never to return again! :o

Where are those rubber snakes when you need them? ;) ;D
(Probably on the shelf beside the rubber chickens...)
Now boys (finger shaking happening here)... be nice to Muffin! It's taken a bit of convincing just to get her to agree to come down there and camp this year, so teasing her about snakes is NOT going to endear you to her... and once you get a good look at her I'm pretty sure you're going to WANT her to like you! ;)
They're not really overgrown children, Muffin, they're just... well, ok, so maybe they are, but they're mostly harmless. ::) :D

:D Indeed! I married me one of them overgrown children from Texas too!
:-*
Will the mosquitoes still be an issue for all Hallows? I'll get eaten alive!
Blushing, they weren't too bad last year, but we did get two or three bites, and I'm usually the main dish if they're out in numbers. Just bring some OFF wipes and you should be fine, I would think, particularly if this cooler weather holds.
Muffin, then you shouldn't have too much trouble with this bunch! They'll be putty in your hands once you actually get there, and probably trip all over themselves to make sure you want to come back and do it all over again next year! They really are pretty great guys, once you get past the rough edges (and the frogs in their pockets)... ::) :D

If anyone here has never eaten snake before, it tastes like chicken, with the consistency of fish. It's actually quite good.

It depends entirely on what type of snake it is, though. Rattle snake does taste a bit like chicken, but some others are a bit different. They do mostly have the fish texture, though.
Except, of course, for the rare and elusive Gummi Snake... which can only be found at the candy counter, doesn't need to be skinned and comes in a rainbow of colors and flavors. Uhhh... except chicken. And it's consistency is more like that of rubber bait worms. :P
LOL, like most of natures critters...cooked low and slow with garlic + other favorite herbs and spices anything can be awesome.
Not sure I'd want the Gummi snake with the garlic, though... :D

I am a card carrying member of PETA (People that Eat Tasty Animals) ;D I love being carniverous.
If it moves under it own power, has limbs, fins, feathers;, it can be eaten,
I am willing to try it,
Dried Squid is good,
rocky mountain osyters yum yum
rattle snake taste like chicken
I believe I am an honorary of PETA ;D
There is absolutely nothing wrong with snake... very lean and packed full of protein.* Now, South American Hissing Roaches are a bit on the nasty side... i don't like a food that b*tches at you when you are trying to eat it. You treat them like they were mud bugs except you bite the head and suck the guts. Yes, gross but when you haven't eaten in 3-4 days, hunger is the best sauce. ;) Wood grub are a wee bit gnarly too... it's like biting into a squirming olive. (don't ask what they taste like... *shudders*)

Hell, you got to ride where you were going... at least neither of us were "Legs".

I broke my collar bone @ SFQC, through no fault of my own. I never recycled, just carried on being a 13F. Kinda regret it now. I would have been able to retire next June. At the time around 12 years was enough. Hindsight being 20/20, heh...
Anyway, how are the bugs out there this weekend?

The wasps were huge. While I was distracted, a wasp flew down, snatched up my bottle of rum, and flew away before I could grab it. I swear it was flying back toward Phoenix Risen's camp area... I had no idea they could be trained.
