Title: Sewing room/area rules
Post by: LadyStitch on October 21, 2010, 09:26:41 AM
I'm thinking of making a custom cross stitch for my sewing room, maybe even incorperate it into my garb for Lady Stitch somehow. (I'm thinking of a scroll that I can keep adding to.)
I want it to be rules of my sewing room.   And I'm looking for ideas.  Here is what I have so far.

1)  Glitter thou art evil... stay out!
2)  Touch a man's sword, you die. Touch my shears, loose a finger.
3)  Wear shoes, pins thou art sneaky
4)Safety pins= Fabric Duct Tape
5)Pets =  Mother nature's pattern & fabric weights
6) Just because you THINK you are size 6 doesn't mean you aren't a size 16.
7) Something borrowed is returned better than it was before it was
borrowed.
8)  If it can't pay it's rent it get's evicted!

Anything suggestions on what I should add?

One of my cardinal rules are: Touch nothing, even if it is on the floor.

How about:

A stitch in tyme keeps thy assets off of YouTube.  :D

Mine are a little more basic, and somewhat more brutal!

DO NOT bleed on the customer's project!
DO NOT stick pins in the customer deliberately! (If you DO manage to stab the customer, BIN THE PIN!)
NEVER use my sewing scissors/rotary cutters without permission - even for cloth!
NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE SEWING ROOM.  EVER.  (Erm...  This can get a little difficult if we are sewing in the conservatory, where the fridge and freezer live!  And I stretch it a bit for me if I'm tidying rather than sewing... But it is MY room!)

And for the visiting customer:
DO NOT touch another customers project, however inviting it may be!  You might get stuck for a bill for cleaning/replacement if you mark it...
Come clean!
Bring CLEAN kids for fittings!
I do not run a babysitting service: do not bring children who are not being fitted to fittings.  If there is more than one child to be fitted, bring another adult to field the kids I'm not fitting at that precise moment. (And bring something for them to do while they wait! I might put the TV on for them: they will NOT be playing with the GMNT's X-box!)
This is MY house: your kids WILL behave.  Or go.
ONLY the person being fitted is allowed in the fitting room.

Oh I have my hard core rules that I have beated into my people, but I'm thinking something short and simple for the cross stitch.

Kate:  I may be adding some of yours to my hard core wardrobe list.  I think the "Come clean" comment may end up next to my "You MUST wear underwear" rule.
It is sad that you actually have to TELL people these things.

If I had just been drinking something, it would have been sprayed all over the monitor!

Touch my sewing scissors and DIE

Just because it looks like a mess doesnt mean that I cant lay hands on precisly what I need.

Don't touch anything!
All scissors have assigned uses...if used for another purpose I WILL know
Nothing is yours until I'm finished with it
