Title: AHE greatness
Post by: Advent on November 01, 2010, 11:33:03 AM
AHE WAS AMAZING!

While I feel beaten and broken, I didn't want it to end. God, I love faire and all my friends who make it awesome! HUZZAH! There is nothing better then tilting back your mug with good friends!

Now I'm going back to sleep on my desk....gotta get a head start on my recovery for next weekend   ;D

Na Na!   :P  I'm off today but I'm still in recovery mode. My butt is dragging but i feel like a new man.  This had to be one of the most interesting weekends I've ever had.  My fairemily expanded a wee bit in the last four days and to my new friends and my old ones, HUZZAH!

Funniest moment... Freaking the 'Danes at the Kettle Corn eatting contest, Sunday.  Advent(aka Lord Richard) came within two mouth fulls of winning... Even with 20 of his fairemily chanting " Eat D**K" at the top of their lungs, the cast stifling laughter and the 'Danes with their mouths hanging open (  :o )!! :D  Lady Ashley did her damnedest as well and put in a good showing.  ;)

It's going to take a few days to truly assimilate the whole experience.   :D ;) ;D.

It was AMAZING!!!  I didn't get to see half the people I wanted to hug, or even a quarter of the shows, events or sights I planned for, alternately froze and roasted, and now I feel like I've been dragged behind a fast moving horse... but I made tons of new friends, got to know some others well enough to want them as permanent Fairemily, and watched my renlet choose new members for her Fairemily, as well...

(sigh)  Bittersweet is the only word for it...  Loved being there, and enjoying basking in the glow of such a wonderful time... and longing for the next time to come around as soon as possible!!!

(aren't we supposed to have those transporters online by now?!?  I should just be able to step up on the pad and just... BE there, by now!!!)  :P

Speaking of...your hand-crafted "lightning in a bottle"...I'll need to scheme a rendezvous with you for a re-load someday Mate. I have rationed the hell outta the gift you gave me sometyme back and am down to the last few shots!
Title: Re: AHE greatness
Post by: Rani Zemirah on November 02, 2010, 10:34:34 AM
YAY!!!  I get to claim credit for that phrase...  LOL  "Hand-crafted lightning in a bottle" was in response to several "home-made hooch" references, and the distinction just HAD to be made!

Molden, I hope you get some of this year's batch, because it was sweeter and smoooother than last years!  Oh, and the C/BO was AMAZING!!!  I won't even repeat what I was calling IT this weekend... well, not in a public forum, anyway!  There were soooo many incredible flavors of Loki this year, but I'm pretty sure that would have been a winner in several categories if there had been a contest!

Oh... and Cupcake Juice is a winner, also... as is Banana Nut Bread!!!  I'd award them all prizes!

Mmmmm... me too!!!  I DO, however, have a whole BOTTLE of the Peach/Mango (mmmmm, again!) that a certain sweet Scot gifted me with, and I'll have to ration it to make it last, because it will be FAAAAR too long until I'm back in teh Loki Circle again...

I was also given about three fingers of the last remaining C/BO as a parting gift from Pat, and I'm having a hard time not sipping from both bottles just thinking about them!!!  I'm NOT sharing either of them, though!!!  Well, not unless I'm asked VERY nicely, anyway...  ;)  :D

Reminds me of a few years ago when I was hanging out at th' Bayou Scoundrels camp on AHE at TRF...Lord Dragonspyre was telling the Homer-length Epic Myth "How I got to Wal-Mart" while 4 or 5 of us were standing around the camp's fire-pit passing assorted jars among ourselves. 4 were various flavors of Loki, 1 was Pat's concoction.

You would hear "mmmm...apple cinnamon! mmmmm...chocolate-cherry! mmm...old school almond. PHFOOOO! *spit-take*kaff!*kaff!*WHEEZE! moon-shine!!!" It repeated several tymes...what was that? Cajun roulette? lol!  :D Good Tymes indeed!

Well, it's definitely sippin' quality, and not something you want to take in large gulps... but it was VERY tasty this year, and I really preferred the flavor over last years batch!  Of course, last year all I could safely have was a sip... but this year I managed just a little more than one or two!  ::)  heheh

All the talk of "lighting in a bottle"  makes me miss my grandad.  He would take all the left over grapes after grandmum made jelly and seal them in a 5 gallon bucket, run sugical tubing to a bottle of water, and then shove the whole thing under his work bench.  By spring he would have what he called wine, but... oh boy.

When he died none of us wanted to go into his workshop.  5 years later my brother found a bucket still 'cooking'.  We have been touching that batch sparingly, not just because it is grandpa's last batch, but also because that stuff WILL curl your hair!

Title: Re: AHE greatness

Oh, TG, me to!!!  Next year I am making a list and carrying it around with me every day, because this year I had so many people I was looking forward to either meeting, seeing again or just spending time with, and everything got so hectic that I wasn't able to get to a lot of the ones that were really important to me.  Like you... :"(

I didn't get to make a really important call to someone who couldn't be there with us, either, and I'm not sure if Luciana will ever forgive me.  I was supposed to call her from the meet-n-greet (which I missed both days) and pass the phone around so she could say hi to everyone, but I wasn't able to get it together enough either day to get there, and on Sunday not only did my phone die completely, but my car charger got fried somehow, as well, so I didn't get to charge my phone again until Monday afternoon while I was sitting in the tire store in Conroe having the blowout replaced.  The other people there looked at me like I was crazy when I brought the charger in and plugged it into the wall, but I didn't want to risk not having it for the rest of the drive home!

All the positive, enthusiastic adjectives in the dictionary could not cover my All Hallows weeked at TRF.

That said ... I'm scheming for a second trip this season (I have a free flight due me, I think) ... and already coming up with some new loki flavors for next season!

Rani - I'm so sorry you had a tire blow out!

I'm so sorry that I didn't get to meet everyone ... I know Saturday I was a bit out of it after the chainmaille show with the heat or simple dehydration.  But there WILL be other visits ...

Molden- Yes we will have to meet up some day and share bottles again. Till this day when I'm sitting/standing around that fire ring, that night is the first thing that pops to mind. Referring back to what Rani had said about the Lighting in the Bottle, it was a lot smoooooooother then what we shared that night. I still have some left out of this batch because it was a short trip for me AHE cause of work on Monday, I didn't bring it all.
Rani- sorry to hear about your tire. The C/BO will be an addition/addiction to my unmentionable in the bottle. I'll let you feel in you own words.

I just have to add my 2 pence worth. We had a blast AHE but only caught a few of y'all. Angus, I was STARVING when we saw you...sorry to have run-off rather quickly. It also seems we are constitutionally unable to hit POW around the parade, but did watch Meg in the chain mail show!

On the one hand, I wish we camped to hang out with y'all more. On the other hand, I like my soft bed, a/c & heat controls and hot showers, LOL.

Hope to catch more of you on closing weekend.

And Ravic, I completely forgot about the bookstore...if we go in and ask for Ravic, will someone recongize the name?

Oh, Tink... don't be shy!!!  We're always happy to meet new R/Fer's, and make them welcome into the Fairemily!  Everyone is always so nice, and before you know it you feel like you've been friends for ages!  Really!!!  You'll be amazed at how easily and naturally it happens... if you just take that first step!  I promise, if you just introduce yourself to one person from R/F, and mention that you've been a little shy about approaching people, you'll find yourself suddenly being introduced to more people than you can remember!!!  It's true for any weekend, but Closing, especially, because there will be quite a few coming in from out of town for that one.

I wish we had met, also!  Next time we'll exchange numbers so we can find each other!  Will you make it to Sherwood or Scarby next season?

I will be out there closing weekend, so I will try to get over the shyness so I can actually meet some of the awesome people I "talk" to on here and facebook!

I will hopefully be living much closer to Austin when Sherwood season comes around, so would love to be out there.  Not sure about Scarby, yet, but most likely will be out there for at least 1 weekend.

Please DO introduce yourself!  You won't regret it!!!  :D
