Post by: dbaldock on November 03, 2010, 03:17:30 PM
Checking AccuWeather.com - Magnolia, TX - 15 Day Forecast (http://www.accuweather.com/us/tx/magnolia/77353/forecast-month.asp?mnyr=11-01-2010&view=table), here's what the TRF Sixth Weekend (Highland Fling) looks like:

Friday, 12-NOV-10
Bright sunshine  Thunderstorms possible
Hi = 74° F 76° F
Lo = 47° F 51° F
Historical Averages = 72° F & 50° F

Saturday, 13-NOV-10
Sunny  A thunderstorm possible
Hi = 74° F 69° F
Lo = 48° F 47° F
Historical Averages = 71° F & 50° F

Sunday, 14-NOV-10
Clouds, a shower in the p.m.  Rather cloudy
Hi = 74° F 63° F
Lo = 49° F 46° F
Historical Averages = 71° F & 50° F

I'm planning to be at TRF taking pictures on Sunday Saturday, when the ladies of Queen Anne's Lace (http://www.qalace.com/front.php) have said they'll be down from DFW performing.  So, I hope Sunday's forecast changes for the better.

EDIT:  Forecast has changed a bit, and I'm planning to be visiting on Saturday.
EDIT:  More changes to the Forecast.

I had a good chat with one of those ladies over breakfast during Scarby at one of the hotels..poor lass. They were booked to do A-Con shortly after...Steampunk music.....she was highly confused as to how they were going to do that...But hey, press on she said. Such a good group.

Oh... well, maybe it just doesn't like being ridden BY an antique...  (oops... was that my outside voice?)  :P

You have a 2001 Triumph, and it doesn't RUN?!?  What did you do to it?!?  It's practically a baby, for goodness sake!!!  I have to admit, though, that I never pictured you on a newer bike... somehow you just seem like you'd WANT to ride one that had seen a bit more of the world than something made in this decade... hell, this century!

The light is great, there is a much higher percentage of people in garb, and everybody that does show up is intent on having fun.

Since the Lady and I are both just getting over that loverly flu bug running around, we would appreciate it being a wee bit on the drier side...especially as we have tickets for "Celtic Thunder" Saturday eve and I was planning on making it an all day Kilt wearin'(just changing from the blousy shirt/fighting jacket/basket-hilt sword, to the Prince Willy formal wear). ;) ;D

If that isn't Celtic overload for one weekend, I don't know what is!!! :o ;D

I second Blue... lol I wore the 30 pounds of velvet last year that turns into 65 pounds when wet... and that gives you back problems.

Wear less! Problem solved!    ;D

It's looking like it will be a Highland Weekend after all, summer in the Highlands. Thank G-d we don't have the midges also, I'll take the possibility of showers over them blood sucking wankers.

Prince Willy ?  ???

I second that!  Taking a hike through Am Monadh* can be hell on earth, during the late spring.  It's pretty bad when there are enough of the little buggers to kilt check you...  :D

*that's the Grampians to you lowlanders*  ;)

I can see how a weather wimp might see it that way.

For us that know how to have fun, it is a very different story.

It is a day of fantastic light for pictures.  My wife can already see how excited I am about the prospect!

It is a great day to wrap your cloak around a young lady, warm her up a little, and make a new friend.

A rain cloak, proper footwear, a few hand warmers, knowing where the best hot chocolate is at, and the right attitude makes rain days a LOT of fun.

I don't feel sorry for the weather wimps at all - They know how to be miserable regardless of the weather.

I agree.   On Roman weekend in years past when all the Queen's Men were wearing were glorified sheets, It was usually a chilly day so I decided that it was 'Warm up a Goddess' day and many a man in a cloak was more than happy to accomodate.  It was a great bit.

This time of year starts to winnow out the weak. I can remember at least twice over the years that there were more participants than patrons but by goddess those were some hard core rennies. An inspiration to us all.

When the going gets tough, the tough head for the pub.

You wont find sympathy for 135 degree weather here. Been there, done that.

I dont mind the weather, so long as I have good company I will have fun.

good company always results in good time

good company does indeed result in a good time, I agree with that very much. I personally don't care for cold and wet even with good company, I have spent way too much time in that kind of weather and don't care to do it as a constant weather diet, however I have and do continue to visit my friends even in the worst weather at Faire, but to be cold and wet, hmm still sux to be ya'll and wasn't requesting sympathy from a cruit just tellin ya to come join me and have some of this wonderful weather

Yes, everybody please stop claiming R...! We have a guest author at my booth & we'd really, really, really  like to make it a nice weekend for him. Just sayin'.

I prefer to refer to it as the "Tears of God" but as Lady Rosaline said, these things called "forecasts" change hour to hour.

*At least it won't be like Closing weekend '07* ;D
Oh lawdy.... I was there for that one!

It was cold and wet and miserable... but a fun time none the less.

I'm utterly delighted with the way the weather turned out for Saturday at the Faire.  We all had the most fabulous time and even have some sunkissed cleavage amongst the ladies.
