What is the best food there? Is there some hidden treasure that only the regulars know about?
Prime Rib Trenchers @ the POW. Mmmmmmm! Beef! ;D

Yum, that sound good, gonna have to try that next time.
Perogies! I hadn't had them until last year and they are yummy! I don't know how much of a hidden treasure, but I just never thought about them with all the *meat* on a stick running around.

AMEN! Usually takes me + 1 to finish one! Great horseradich sauce as well. I ALWAYS get one when I go to TRF.
Honorable mention goes to:
Beef Empenadas over in the "Food Court" section
Gyros also in the Greek area.
Second the gyros in the Greek area and our family loves the cajun fries although they are really more like cajun potato chips.

I agree completely! In the last couple of years, Captain Jasper and I always have one of these for lunch. It fills us both up and is delicious! We got one late in the day a few weekends ago and they cut us the "best of the rest" and it was the most delectable one we've had so far!
Scotch Eggs hmmm
I've heard many people praise the prime rib, which I've had at the feast and I was not let down, however, the one time I ordered it from the POW it was all fat and bread and hardly any meat, so was that just a bad year or there is a particular time that one should avoid ordering one or should strive to order one?
My family loves the perogies and gyros, they are our typical faire food when we're there. The fried PB&J was awesome too. I was not that impressed with the Monte Christo opening weekend.

When i ordered mine, this past Sunday, i had just heard a woman complaining about the PR... when mine arrived, it was everything the woman said it wasn't. Excellent.
The Gyros are to die for also... i like the lamb/beef combo.
I guess it's hit or miss then. Never had a bad gyro though (o:
I had the fish and chips at the Sea Devil last weekend and I thought it was pretty good. Gyros are always good too.
The Tortas in the Spanish area are quite delicious...
I saw that the POW has expanded its menu to include a rack of ribs. Anyone had these yet?

+1 on the Perogies! not only are they good, but at a place not really known for "reasonably priced" food, they are a pretty good value as well!
combination plate at the Polish kichens as a good value and the food is great.
I usually have a gyro, but I think I'll have to stop in at the POW this year....

That's breakfast! :-)
True!
Last weekend I had the Scotch Egg for Breakfast, and then later in the day tried the Muffuletta from the vendor near where the French Court hangs out. It was a good, and filling sandwich. I've had, and like, the Sweet Potato Curly Fries.
Someone mentioned Baked Sweet Potatoes, but I didn't find the vendor selling them.
Take Care,

Next to the Globe Stage on the right there is a vendor that sells baked potatoes (I believe they have a sign up). They sell baked sweets there too.

Thanks for the Info! I'll check there next time I'm at the Faire.
The German Royal Hamburger- and the Reuben are good!
I LOVE the prime rib!
AMEN QUEEN BONNIE!
The royal Hamburg in the German area is FABULOUS! I like to get it cause it is yummy and huge and only 6 bucks!
and hey ... while you are there getting a burger.. stop by my nest and say hello! :D
Have to add my thumbs up for:
Prime Rib Trencher @ POW
Anything at all from the Polish section (and yes those pierogies are WONDERFUL)
The royal hamburg
And add - the apple dumplings. I think they are in more than one place but I get them near the kids games on the way to the Italian area.
I like the sounds of the sweet potato fries / baked sweet potato too, going to have to find those!

The Sweet Potato Curly Fries (with or without Powdered Sugar & Cinnamon) were from the same vendor as the Muffuletta Sandwich, near where the French Court hangs out. It's on the Right Side of the 400's, in one of the "green" booths that doesn't have a pop-up info-bubble on the
TRF New Market Village Map (http://www.texrenfest.com/map.html).
This is a picture of the young lady who was working there on Saturday evening:

I dig the cabbage rolls.
*My favorite meal in faire is rum and coke...*
I am throwing my 2 shillings in for the pierogies, and the gyro as well. When I am craving protein I always get the sesame chicken (chicken tenders on a stick) from Merchant Prince on Mockingbird Lane.
I really REALLY miss the beefy cones that used to be sold by the Odeon. The beefy bun just isn't the same.
There's a nice cheese and fruit plate to be had down by Ravic's shop as well.

Its the bookstore across from the PoW pub.
Yes Yes Yes!
The Royal Hamburger in the German area is fantastic! There's something different about the bun....potato bread, maybe?
We make a point of getting one at least once every year.

The bookstore directly across from the Prince of Wales Pub. To the left from the front gate.
I miss the crawfish sausage from the French area. They say their distributor punked out on them but there are other distributors.

We had it this weekend. Oh my gosh was it good. The pink pirate and I were able to share it with no problem. Well worth the money and VERY filling.
Edit: I wanted to add that the frozen & choclate dipped cheesecake makes for a nice sweet diversion. You get the fruit and cheese plate at the same place. A friend of mine and I shared the cheese cake it made for a wonderful sweet diversion.
Lots of new ideas for our next visit! Can't wait to try some of these out!
Yes the cheesecake is really good - I must agree (o:
I call it the "Diet Breaker" ;)

That ain't no joke - its a danged good size piece of cake too - I can forget eating for a few hours after putting one of those away :P
Prime rib trencher, gyros and I always have to indulge on some fudge at Indulgences :)
oh and the hot chocolate too!
Forgive me for my dumb question, but where would I buy the prime rib trencher? Someone mentioned the POW... whats that?
There is so much food there, hard to decide :)
Prince of Wales pub... hang a left when you come in the gates and it's about 75-100 yards down, on the right.
*next to the King's Feast Hall*
Thanks Fraser! I'll keep that in mind for future visits.
