Apparently all the cops in the Tri-County area have gotten this silly idea that Renfest patrons might be occasionaly impaired. One more reason to camp.
I absolutely detest drunk drivers.
I also get annoyed because those drivers make the rest of us look bad.
Good Luck to the officers. Every drunk they stop is a possible life saved.
*I have never and will never drink my rum and drive*
They must be talking about very late at night. Because if you leave the fair and drive towards Magnolia from 3:00pm to 6:00pm the road is one long solid line of cars. Drunk drivers wouldn't stand out when everyone is going 25mph unless they are on the point of passing out.
But definitely, be careful and don't drive while impaired.
I agree about the drunks but the Magnolia & Montgomery County smokies like to hassle us ren regulars simply because we are breathing their air. They don't really like us & they feel they have to let us know it from time to time.
I like the crackdown, but they could and should stop it by getting people before they get into their cars. I've seen groups of stumbling idiots heading to the parking lot none any condition to drive.
And they shouldn't focus on us Ren Folk as the weekenders at lake Conroe are a problem year round.
Wonder how they would like it if the Faire moved away from Grimes and Montgomery Counties. Then some of their jobs would be at risk. The faire brings in large chunks of cash to those places so they should think about the economic impact. But then they are morons for the most and it never dawns on them. Okay off my soap box for now.

The old timers despise faire. I've heard all kinds of stories, down thru the years, about things like this.
They have also made it "No Refusal Weekend" every weekend for the next 3 years in Harris county.

Growing up in Magnolia and living here most of my life, I can tell you this is too true. The oldtimers at the cafe HATED rennies and faire and would always grumble about it when I was a kid (and I'm sure they still do).
yep, i'm sure they still do Advent! remember that one guy at the retriever? wow, did he ever have issues with faire traffic lol!
Lol its so true about the old timers. I remember when I was a kid, I always knew when faire was about to kick off just by listening to the old timers whine about it in the donut shop.
I'm all for removing the irresponsible from the road and giving them a night on the tax payers dime behind bars. I don't care if it's my mother, my brother or a fellow rennie. Anyone who can't drink responsibly and then takes to the roads needs to be back handed consistently on their trip to the county holding cell.
As for the locals, not much one can say. They're old and set in their ways. But those who run businesses should be welcoming of the Faire attendees. Especially the Magnolia diner - Though after waiting nearly an hour for our food, I won't be eating there again.

Only 12?
I read on one of the Houston News stations web site that they popped about 40 people for DWI in Montgomery County during this Faire season. That's a good thing.
Glad we'll be camping, with little reason to go into town for anything. Of course, I don't understand anyone who will drink enough to impair their motor skills and then decide to drive, anyway!
the same reason a man will drink enough to be impaired and try to drive the wife, LMAO ;D

Give it another try. I was there that night & that was the worst it has been in several seasons. An exception to the norm.
Sunday night as I was headed south towards Magnolia I spied a car headed north with the driver waving a bible out his window as they drove by. Not sure what point they were trying to make.
