Title: Beverages
Post by: DonaCatalina on December 08, 2010, 04:56:17 AM
I noticed that Ziegebboch is the tiltes sponsor. Anyone know eactly what beverages will be available?
Will there be wine if the wine tasting with Lady de Rouen is not there?

There is wine and beer and really good mead!  Plenty to drink at Sherwood! (But no scotch on a stick booth yet. LOL.)

Let me know when they figure out how to do that!

Let me know when they figure out how to do that!

They could do it like they do the Fried Coca Cola - which is basically a Coca Cola flavored Funnel Cake.  You can probably add any flavor you want to the Funnel Cake batter, fry it, and serve it on a stick or a plate.

Or, if you've got a container of liquid nitrogen handy, you could probably make Scotch-sicles by quick freezing your scotch with a stick in it.   :o   ;)

I haven't seen scotch on a stick yet, but I have seen scotch IN a stick. It was a hollow-topped gentleman's walking stick with a screw-top knob that had a small vial of scotch hidden inside. Very clever, I thought.

Huzzah to Scotch in a stick! That does sound like a good idea! The LARF has top shelf liquor in one of their pubs! I miss going to that faire.
EWWW! Just say NO to fried Scotch! LOL.
I will be happy with mead or red wine at Sherwood. Of course I won't drink as I will be driving myself back and forth. Sigh.

Ziegenbock is an Anheuser-Busch product, so I'd expect other Bud products.

i will ask george to post the list of all the ales and wines and mead to be available this year.

Last year it seemed that all the wines were either decided dry or sweet (at least on opening weekend).  Any chance there will be something in  the middle, maybe a Reisling type?  My daughter and I usually share a bottle or two at TRF during a day long visit but opted for cola and water at Sherwood.

Thanks.

The website now has posted 'menu coming soon' so it looks like the list will be up soon.

BTW Sherwood Forest faire has moved up to the #2 option on google search for 'sherwood'. Huzzah!

As long as I can find a Dr. Pepper and an occasional bottle of water I am fine. Of course I will have a mead to celebrate my first time there.

If it's a cold day, there are some Hot Chocolate vendors as well.

Stupid question, I know, but I'm an addict- will there be any Dt.Coke, or will it be Pepsi products like out at TRF?

Well, that makes 4 of us (including Nim). We do NOT do Pepsi. Maybe it will be nice and chilly and we can have some hot buttered rum!  Coke is SO much better than Pepsi!

I agree with you about coke,
I am a firm believer in supporting products who support groups or things that I like
Coke supports youth sports, the military personnel and their dependants, etc...
and Pepsi supports ACLU  not my favorite group

The only soda I ever drink is in Scotch! LOl. Sweet fizzy water is not my thing.

Fizzy is okay with me as long as it's beer. Otherwise, scotch, rum, gin, coffee, tea, water, you name it--just no sodas.  Ever.

Guess I have to be the voice of opposition.  I don't care who the beverage maker is in bed with.  If your product tastes like degreaser and burns the crap out of my throat, I'm not going to drink it.  I'm a Dr. Pepper fan, but if it is not available then I will take a Pepsi over a coke and lacking Pepsi I'll just drink water.

Hey everyone. George here. Like last year, we will have ale, wine, mead, soda, water, coffee, tea etc.

Ziegen Bock is indeed our lead sponsor. In addition, we have Budweiser, Bud Light, Bass, Guinness, New Castle, Stella Artois, Shock Top Wheat, Long Hammer (my fave), Boddingtons, and likely a couple more.

We'll have Thorin's Viking Mead (which I can't stop drinking) and Oberhoff Texas Wildflower mead.

We'll have red and white wine but I'm not sure which brands. If u like sweet, be sure to try the mead. Madame Ghislaine of LaRF fame is doing her Wine Tasting on 2 weekends. Brian and I did this at LaRF and it was terrific. She'll have a bunch of great wines which will also be for sale.

We're hoping to have warm beverages on cold days this year.

We'll have Sherwood Forest Faire branded water which is kinda fun.

We'll have Coke or Pepsi - still being negotiated. We'll have the diet version as well - other sodas too. Ok,  I'm now boring everyone. C y'all at faire!

I'm always a fan of ice tea during the day.  The mango juice from the Golden Conquistador kicks butt as well during the day.

The best thing about Ziggy is that it is an above average beer which was produced to cost about the same as bud, bud light, miller, etc.

Will definitely have to try the Viking mead as it sounds good.  For those of you who suffer cedar or hay-fever, pick up a bottle of the texas wildflower...The honey used actually helps one build up a resistance to the histamines that cause the suffering.
