Greetings!.
I am considering bringing my character up a level or two this year and was considering to add a simple dagger for starters. I have no experience with any type of renaissance period weapon, keeping that in mind. My character, although still putting it all together at times, is some what of a business man, or lol, self proclaimed entrepreneur. I would say my character resembles that of middle class at the least based in the 16th century.
I have no intentions of using the dagger other than a piece tied prop (where permitted). So I dont care to spend for the best quality, however, I want something of at least decent quality or so. Any suggestions of where I would search for this? Or what type I would likely look for? And what type of belt is best suited for supporting such a weapon.
Many thanks
James (Drake Troubles)

Depending on your background you could do a ballock like this http://www.allenantiques.com/images/mini-W-2.jpg
You can do a Rondell like this http://www.allenantiques.com/images/W-3.jpg
Here you can see both next to a sword of the period http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3188/2635891551_a3a53d7027.jpg
I being a maker feel like I should link you to historical examples. With that info you should be able to find a quality repro example of what you want to portray.
thank you gents! This was helpful and got me off to a great start.
Don't forget to check out Arms & Armor. They are a bit higher in price but their work and authenticity is great.
