Title: Have you ever totally made over a gown/tunic/doublet/etc??
Post by: Lady Catherine on February 12, 2011, 09:44:30 AM
I am just curious, have you ever made over soemthing that started life as another item into a gwon, doublet, etc??

I am starting a new tudor court gown for a young cousin that started life as a 30 x pseudo-medieval gown and a rug!

what have you done? do you have pictures? how did you scrimpt fabric, etc to make it work? how did you find trim, etc? did you wind up buying anything to complete it?

thanks!

Great question! I'm thinking of turning my maternity noble gown into a coat thingy (ropa?)

Well, I am currently batting around some ideas to turn a Irish style of gown into something else. Most likely a Venetian. Still in the planning stages and gathering pictures ...and tons of questions! I want to make the new bits from what I have in my stash so in the end I'll have a new gown for no cost. :)
