Too bad gas is so high. I'd love to just jump in the car and visit every spot
on this map.

Bodie in CA and Jerome in AZ make my vote as worthy of visiting.  Bodie is more truly a ghost town, but Jerome, although livelier, has some interesting aspects.  Both (especially Bodie) require going a bit out of your way, but are worth it!
