Sigh. I have a shop display form padded out to my shape/measurements with the Fabulous Fit fitting system (http://www.fabulousfit.com/fitting_system.html). I absolutely *love* the fitting system--it works brilliantly. It's the shop display form that's causing me untold grief. It wobbles, it tilts to the left, and it *constantly* unscrews from its base (loosening and loosing height) as I work with it. I can't stand it.
Can somebody recommend a good, STURDY form that I can pad out? I don't mind spending decent money for something that's going to stay where (and how tall) I put it. But the FF forms themselves (at $685) are a little out of my price range. DEFINITELY NOT looking for anything DIY (duct tape doubles, etc).
Whatever I use has to start out pretty small--my high bust measurement is only 32".
(I asked this question on Pattern Review and got a lot of suggestions for replacing the base with an office chair stand. ::) Sigh. Thought I'd come to you guys for better help!)
Suggestions?
Gramercy!!
Do you know someone who can rebuild the base for you with a pole that won't wobble?
That would be my first guess.
Unfortunately, I don't, Lady K. That's why I'd like to just stop mucking with it and get a decent form to start with.
This is mine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370191039823 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370191039823)
They come in various sizes, though I really should have bought a smaller size. So last week, I shaved off pretty much her whole bust, and will be replacing it with squishable foam, so she can wear my corsets and stays. If you twist her around a whole ton in the same direction, the base will eventually unscrew, but I feel like that would happen with any screw. (I only had that happen once, and that was while I was cutting and sanding her down, moving it around way more than usual). It's also straight pin-able, which is nice. I use it with my fabulous fit system, and it works well.
