Title: Were Rabbit Pelts Used for...?
Post by: SunnieRose on May 10, 2011, 07:59:18 PM
Anything?...

I was given a number of pelts and thought I'd make a bag for my flute... I just cannot recollect seeing any at the faire... and cannot find any references.

Thanks!
Sunnie

My boyfriend tucks one into his belt, but he is also an archer/hunter.

My daughter had me make a rabbit muff for her hands and she also tucks one in her belt with her highland garb.  Looks rustic I guess.

Thank you... both those are great examples... guess I'll start stitching up a flute bag to carry on my back!

Cheers,

I will add this... if you are child friendly character or are around many wee ones... they will all want to pet it.   Sarah always has little girls touching her fur and they all want to pet and feel the tail of my mink.  It is kinda fun.

Yes, rabbit fur was used -normally as lining to cloaks or gowns.   It wasn't simply "worn" as an accessory - but served some functional purpose.  A muff as another poster stated is an excellent use of rabbit fur as would hats, and even to line shoes.
