Title: Swap out for bais tape?
Post by: Adriana Rose on May 24, 2011, 10:57:46 AM
I need to know if there is a way that I can swap out bias tape for anything else? My mom wants a waist cincher and I have everything but the bias tape and I have no  where locally to get the blasted stuff!

Can I use ribbion in place of it or is there a super secret trick for anything else? I really dont have the time to make my own. Please help!

Other than make your own, Ribbion might be your best option.  :-\

I have used grosgrain ribbon in the past successfully.

What do you need the bias tape for? Binding it?

Have you thought about lining and turning instead? Then you don't need to bind it; topstitching will be sufficient. That's what I did with the one I made my MIL,  like this one on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-REN-SCA-LARP-PIRATE-CUSTOM-10-WAIST-CINCHER-CORSET-/330566925544?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf752fce8). I put a little trim down the lacing edges for sparkle, though.
