Title: kilt question
Post by: Lady Christina de Pond on May 26, 2011, 12:48:05 PM
alright so i was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a pattern for a kilt?
or much about sewing a kilt

what i had in mind was suprising my brother with three kilts one on his birthday in a floral/Hawiian( i think my sister in law may get a laugh out of the hawiian)  and then one in a toddler size for my nephew on christmas and one for my brother(the toddler one i would want to match the adult)

any help or suggestion you could give would be appreciated

I'm guessing you mean a modern kilt and not a Great Kilt?

I'm thinking that you mean the Wee Kilt.
Its not a pattern as such because you fold the pleats according to the sett (stripes) of the pattern.
This site should provide some help. (http://www.scottishdance.net/highland/MakingKilt.html)
Similar instructions here. (http://www.kiltsforsale.net/Kilt_Pattern.html)
