Title: Where to get a nice leather tricorn hat?
Post by: Capt. William Drake on June 09, 2011, 05:00:33 PM
Ahoy me hearties;
I am in the market looking to buy a nice leather tricorn hat to complete my pirate look.  I was looking at the pirate trading company, but since they don't seem to answer their emails (I don't know how you run a business like that) I am shoving off to better horizons.  So if any of my fellow ren faire friends and swabies can help this old sea dog I would be most appreciative.

Your friend on the high seas
Capt. William Drake ;)

Have you been trying to get ahold of The Pirate Trading Company, LLC @ http://www.thepriatetradingco.com (http://www.thepriatetradingco.com), or Pyrate Trading Company/Pyrate Leatherworx @ http://www.pyrate.org/ (http://www.pyrate.org/)? If it is the first company you've been having communication issues with, then I would recommend Pyrate Leatherworx, they are awesome! They were just at STLRF, try them.  :)

Ahoy again me hearties;
  After much searching on the web I am pleased to announce that I have found two hat companies that fit my need.  The first is Captain Jacks pirate hats, and the other was Barons hats out of California.  They both are high end hats with a price tag to boot, but they are hand made and and the quality looks second to none.  Personally I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and quality is not cheap.   So this old sea dog says give these sites a look and let me know what you think.

Yours truly
Capt. William Drake (a.k.a the dragon of the coast)

One of my good clients for whom I am going to be making Pirate coats for himself and his girlfriend, ordered pirate hats from Capratin Jack hats. His is the Barbosa. GORGEOUS hat!! I can attest to the quality of the hat. He paid extra to have it weather proofed.

Barons in California was the company that did Russell Crowe's Ben Wade hat for the film '3:10 To Yuma'. A friend of mine ordered a custom made replica of that hat for $500. Worth every penny.They do a lot of hats for films. The original Indiana Jones Fedora for Harrison Ford was made by Barons as well.
